6 SBL warriors hit the mat in SE Polk High School for the 2025 USA State Freestyle Tournament. Placing in the top 4 in either the Junior or 16U division qualifies the guys for the USA National Freestyle Tournament in Fargo. The event is truly a national tournament not just some tournament who put the word "national" on it to be cool. These guys have been to plenty fake nationals too. Lol. The one in Fargo is truly the Big Dog!

Ben and Luke Walsh, Bo and Dax Koedam, Ayden McRoberts, and Jayce Curry all competed for a shot.

SBL wrestlers spent a couple days battling for team Iowa for AAU National duals. Keeping the dust knocked off and keeping the grind mindset is a huge part winter success. Very proud these guys gave up some Easter break time to represent SBL and team Iowa.

Team Iowa Black were the Jr/Sr National Champs going 8-0 in duals. Jayce Curry (6-2) and Bo Koedam (8-0) were on that team.

Ben Walsh went 6-2 on Team Iowa Red with the team placing 12th overall.

Dax Koedam went 6-2 on Team Iowa Gold. Was able to avenge an earlier tournament loss in the last round.

Josh Gray went 2-6 on a Jr/Sr team wrestling 113. Not an easy couple days but knows the value of getting back to work after a loss.

Luke Walsh was on Team Iowa Red and finished 4-4 on the weekend in the fresh/sophomore division.

Hunter Guthmiller (4-4) and Dayton Perez (1-7) both wrestled on an AAU Middle School Iowa team. Getting a chance to wrestle some of the best of the best in the MS division is exactly what is needed to grow for November 2025!

Very thankful each of you had a chance to continue growing your craft!

Wrestlers hit the road again this weekend for some additional competition and for a team outing. They wrestled at the VanMeter Freco tournament on Saturday as well as the Ankeny Freco tournament on Sunday. Also had some down time with bowling and some great food! Always awesome to see our guys invest in an experience together.

VanMeter participants included: Ben Walsh, Luke Walsh, Josh Gray, Kyler Tendal, Dayton Perez, Jayce Curry, Bo Koedam and Dax Koedam. Ben and Jayce were Champs with Dax and Bo taking 2nd.

Ankeny participants included Ben, Luke, Josh, Jayce, Bo, Dax. We had 3 Champs with Ben, Bo, and Jayce. Dax was 2nd.

Got a bit behind here. Quick update. Guys have 3 off season tournaments in the books. Big crew to Midwest Classic last weekend and a smaller group to Council Bluffs freestyle on Saturday and and again on Sunday at Perry. Happy to see kids coming together and competing! Handful of champion belt winners at Midwest Classic with Bo and Dax as well as some additional medalist. Ben Walsh and Dax won freestyle titles at Perry and Ben also a champ at Council Bluffs. More to come!
