I have to admit the weather has just not been in our favor the last month or so. Too hot too soon and the only things that seem to like our current humid, warm, sticky weather are spiders, gnats, mosquitoes, and snakes. All of which Iâve come into contact with this morning. Building up these farms is a slow process because I have a very big vision⊠a whole picture, long term goal. Iâm very comfortable with that. Iâm also comfortable with the continual learning process.
Last year this time we had abundance of flowers because they were all field grown. This year we grew those crops in high tunnels and they all came months earlier. It has warmed up quicker this year so they are on their way out and due to spending so much time harvesting and selling those flowers and the terrible rains we had, the next big wave of flowers is a little behind schedule. We are mass planting now for summer and fall. Nobody loves gaps, but now we know how to fix that for next year! Plus, the flowers are still coming! All of the slow planting processes of perennials and designer gardens are paying off! They are filling in the gaps beautifully for us right now. Iâm loving it! It makes for more specific design work and a greater creative process which is a much enjoyed break from the daunting tasks of mass planting alone.
Anywho, here are a few photos of the blooms I snapped photos of this morning.
