We want to take a moment to update everyone who’s been so excited and supportive of Kid Cove. As many of you know, we were originally scheduled to open weeks ago — but unfortunately, we’re still waiting on a major roof repair to be completed by the property owners at Lakeshore Mall.
When we signed our 5-year lease agreement, we were promised that any roof issues would be addressed before opening. However, it’s now been over a month of delays with no clear timeline for completion, and our hands are truly tied.
This has been incredibly frustrating for our team, but we do want to recognize that Mall Manager Jenny Cheek has been absolutely wonderful. She’s gone above and beyond to advocate for us and push for progress — and we are truly grateful for her support.
We were told that the property owner had given the green light to install a brand new roof over our unit, but unfortunately, it still hasn’t happened — and we still don’t have a confirmed date.
The good news? We’ve done extensive mold remediation and consulted with a contractor who specializes in mold. Thankfully, the area above our ceilings has no insulation, drywall, or materials that hold moisture — just tall open airspace, metal trusses, and electrical. That means no mold risk, which is a huge relief.
Still, we can’t move forward until the roof is fixed. We can’t install the arcade games, café equipment, or stock the educational gift shop until we’re confident the space is protected from leaks and water damage. These are big investments we can’t risk.
We are so ready to welcome you inside and show you what we’ve been working so hard on — from the incredible murals by Michelle Lott at Signtastic to the cozy sensory room and all the amazing features of the playground. It’s all here and waiting — we just need a dry roof over our heads to open the doors.
We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this delay. We’re doing everything we can — and we can’t wait to have fun with you all very soon. Keep your fingers crossed for a dry roof in the next week or two!
