What an unforgettable celebration of culture, music, and community! 🌍

A massive thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday at the 4th Annual East African Heritage Festival on the East African Comm. Services SeaTac Grounds. Together, we did more than just share a festival—we marked a historic milestone celebrating 25 Years of East African Community Services (EACS).

The energy was unmatched as two incredible headliners united our community on one stage.

🇪🇹 Teddy Yo brought the house down with his powerful fusion of Ethiopian hip-hop, culture, and lyricism, while 🇸🇴 Gulled Ahmed captivated generations with the beautiful, soulful rhythms of Somali music. Special thanks to Somali, Kenyan and Ethiopian cultural dancers.

🎧 DJ Mustafae kept the dance floor packed and the vibes high all afternoon, while families connected over amazing food, vibrant art, and shared stories.

Thank you to our incredible partner, Kicheko Project Foundation, and to every single person who came out to represent, eat, dance, and celebrate our collective resilience and creativity. We are truly one community with many stories.Take a look at some of the best moments from yesterday!

TWO HEADLINERS. ONE EMCEE. ONE STAGE. ONE UNFORGETTABLE CELEBRATION.

Kicheko Project is honored to partner with East African Comm. Services for the 4th Annual East African Heritage Festival — a celebration of culture, music, heritage, and the incredible diversity of East Africa.

This year, we’re bringing together two powerhouse artists representing the sound, spirit, and pride of our communities:

🇪🇹 TEDDY YO— one of the defining voices of Ethiopian hip-hop, blending contemporary rap with Ethiopian identity, culture, and social commentary. Known for acclaimed works including Gurage Tone, Arada, Vol. 2, and his 2024 album Yileyal.

🇸🇴 GULLED AHMED — bringing the soul of Somali music to the stage, connecting generations through timeless Somali traditions and modern rhythms with beloved songs like *Dhahar, Aaliya,* and Abayada.

🎧 And keeping the energy alive all day — our resident DJ, DJ MUSTAFAE!

Two brothers. Two musical traditions. One East African community.

If you haven't visited your local farmers market this season, consider this your sign. 🌿
Farmers markets are about so much more than fresh produce.

They're where neighbors become friends, small businesses find their first loyal customers, and cultures are shared one conversation—and one meal—at a time.

For organizations like Kicheko Project Foundation, these spaces create opportunities for immigrant entrepreneurs, artists, nonprofits, and local food vendors to tell their stories, build sustainable businesses, and strengthen the communities they call home.
We're grateful to organizations like BECU that continue investing in Washington's local farmers markets and the small businesses that make them thrive. Those investments have a ripple effect that extends far beyond a single market day.
This season, when you shop local, you're doing more than making a purchase. You're investing in dreams, supporting families, preserving culture, and helping build stronger, more connected communities.

We'll see you at the Shoreline Farmers Market this Saturday.
