Bringing some ti leaves home from Hawaiʻi so I can keep making when I get back. Today’s prep space: the hotel bathroom. 🌿

A little behind the scenes of putting together the floral backdrop for my uncle’s funeral. 🤍

A little tropical flower and foliage washing ASMR from Hawaiʻi. 🌿🌺

Sometimes the simplest parts of creating are my favorite. There’s something so therapeutic about slowing down and just enjoying the process. 🤍

I came to Hawaiʻi for my uncle’s funeral and unexpectedly found myself helping with the floral backdrop. 🤍

With very little time to prepare, I was grateful to find a local farm willing to gather fresh tropical flowers and foliage for me.

I wasn’t sure what I’d be able to create with what I found, but sometimes you just have to make with what you have. 🌿

Hoping to create something beautiful to honor my uncle. 🤍

Sometimes the simplest lei are my favorite. 🤍

Just a bowl of fresh orchids, a needle, and thread. A little reminder to slow down and enjoy the process of making something beautiful.

🌺 Make with what you have.

White orchids and red ginger kakala 🌺❤️

I love how the soft white orchids contrast with the bold red ginger, with a delicate border of baby’s breath bringing it all together. A beautiful combination of colors and textures in this Tongan kahoa.

A little bit of everything! 🌺 Sharing the handmade heilala kahoa I made for my niece’s baptism, our squishy hunting adventures for her birthday, and some fresh flower lei I made this week.

A little crafting, a little shopping, and a little catching up! 💕

Making a kahoa with fresh carnations 🌸

Carnations are one of my favorite flowers to work with because their full, ruffled petals create so much texture and volume. They’re also surprisingly durable, making them a great choice for fresh floral kahoa.

Amazon’s “About You” knows I keep buying orchids… but has no idea what I’m doing with all of them. 😂🌸

Fresh flower processing ASMR 🌺

Before the lei making begins, the flowers need a little care! Processing fresh flowers involves unpacking, inspecting, trimming, and hydrating them after shipping. This helps them recover from their journey and keeps them fresh for creating.

One of my favorite things about ordering from Mayesh is having access to tropical flowers year-round, even while living in Utah!
