Applications are now open for the Community Arts Grant Program, which provides funding to Scottsdale-based arts and culture organizations and Valley arts organizations to serve diverse community interests by supporting a variety of arts and culture programs and events and foster the long-term growth in Scottsdale’s arts and culture organizations. Fausto Fernandez is known throughout the Valley art scene for his intricate, colorful, and captivating paintings. Yet, he's perhaps best known as a friend—a vibrant, cheerful, and kind presence at art openings and other events here in Scottsdale and beyond. Last month, Fausto suffered a severe stroke. His long-term prognosis is positive, but his recovery will be long and expensive. Fausto's friends have organized a GoFundMe to offset the extensive medical expenses and the loss of income during his recovery. Details: https://sarts.co/4j3J5bz.

Fausto has long been a friend and supporter of Scottsdale Arts, from his current service as a member of the SMoCA Advisory Council (photo 1, SMoCA opening) to exhibitions by Scottsdale Arts Learning & Innovation in the Center Space at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts (photos 2 and 7) to Scottsdale Public Art's first all-virtual exhibition during the pandemic (photo 5) to Canal Convergence and predecessor events (photos 3, 4, and 6). We wish him a speedy recovery with overwhelming gratitude for the artistic gifts and friendship he has shared with our organization for many years.
