Happy Monday!! Let’s talk headshots! The first pic is a non-traditional headshot and the second is what you may typically be used to seeing.

While #1 certainly isn’t as “stoic” as the second, it is still totally professional! Gone are the days where you have to have a stuffy headshot to be considered appropriate.

Don’t get me wrong, I love both! I especially love when my clients choose to use the photo that makes them feel the most confident!! But my PSA for the day is to not be afraid to show your personality in the business world!

I have a confession — I almost never like those pictures of the dress on the hanger. I know. They’re on every bride’s Pinterest board.

The majority of venues don’t have a well lit, pretty, and clean space that also just so happens to have a hook or area to safely hang a very expensive gown. That means the most special dress you’ll ever own is often being precariously balanced in an area that I likely brushed dust off of. Ick.

Then there’s the issue that dresses on a hanger will NEVER look as beautiful as they do on. Something magical happens when you slip into your gown. That magic just isn’t there when it hangs there.

Sure, I have made plenty of beautiful photos with a dress hanging, but let’s get real. I get so much more emotional seeing moments like this when a brides mother is buttoning her into her gown. Pure magic.
