Which Side Does the Bride Stand On?

Traditionally, the bride stands on the left side (from the guests’ perspective facing the couple) and the groom stands on the right.

The tradition dates back centuries when a groom would keep his right hand free to draw a sword if needed. Thankfully, that’s no longer a wedding-day concern.
