✨ Meet the Owners of The Sycamore Tree: Ed & Cindy! ✨
Ed and Cindy were both born and raised in Northwest Missouri and have spent their entire lives in the area. Married since 1985, they’ve built a life together alongside their children, Justin and Courtney, and their two grandchildren, Sage and Case.
Cindy’s love for creating beautiful spaces started long before The Sycamore Tree. As a young mom, she took on small painting jobs and made crafts to earn extra money. Her creativity eventually led her to a position as General Manager at The Journey Home, where she discovered a passion for decorating weddings and events while gaining valuable experience managing an event property.
That experience eventually blossomed into Cindy’s Elegant Events, a business that grew from their garage and basement into something that needed a little more room, and eventually found its home at The Sycamore Tree.
About 20 years ago, Ed and Cindy purchased their property just north of St. Joseph, a former rock quarry that they transformed into a place they could call home. Over the years, their farm became a gathering place for family, friends, church groups, and Young Life. Eventually, they built their home on the property as well.
Then, in the fall of 2018, Cindy convinced Ed to take on one more building project, and with that, The Sycamore Tree was born!
But the name means more than just the beautiful property surrounding it. The two lakes are lined with sycamore trees, and the name is also a reflection of their faith, inspired by the biblical story of Zacchaeus climbing a sycamore tree to see Jesus.
Today, The Sycamore Tree is so much more than a venue. It’s a place shaped by years of hard work, a love for hospitality, and a desire to create a space where people can gather, celebrate, and make memories!
