25 years ago, and somehow I can still remember that morning like it was yesterday.

I remember where I was. I remember watching the television in complete disbelief. I remember the fear, the confusion, the tears… and that awful realization that life as we knew it had changed in an instant.

But I also remember the days that followed.

I remember the American flags hanging from homes and businesses. I remember people hugging a little tighter, praying a little harder and loving their neighbors a little better. For a moment, there was no left or right, no division, no us versus them. We were simply Americans.

President George W. Bush said, “We have seen the state of our Union in the decency of a loving and giving people.”

25 years later, those words still resonate.

I find myself thinking not only about everything we lost that day, but about the incredible sense of unity we found in one another afterward.

I pray we never have to experience a tragedy like September 11th again. But I do wish we could find our way back to a little more of the America we were on September 12th… united, compassionate, proud of our country, strong in our faith and grateful for one another.

Today, I’m remembering the lives that were taken, the heroes who ran toward danger, the families who never got to say goodbye, and every person whose life was forever changed.

25 years later, we still remember. We will always remember. 🇺🇸
