Wedding tip Wednesday! What’s the difference in wedding planning and wedding coordination? Every planner has different services when it comes to the two but the main differences are:
A wedding planner handles the whole wedding, from start to finish. It is like having a personal assistant who is there for you every step of the planning process - helping you secure venues & vendors, manage budgets, creating a cohesive design, reviewing contracts, scheduling and attending all meetings, coordinating hotel accommodations & guest experience, etc. They focus on the wedding as a whole including all wedding weekend activities. Wedding planning is for the individual who has a more complex wedding, with lots of details, and has more than one venue.
Wedding coordination is for the organized individual who has time to help plan their wedding. It’s more of a group project. Wedding coordinators focus more on finalizing the event, such as final calls with vendors, finalizing the wedding day timeline, and going for a final walkthrough of the venue. Coordination focuses on the ex*****on of the wedding day itself and less on the whole wedding weekend. Coordination is for the individual who is having a smaller wedding, with less details, and only one venue.
Pro Trip - True Day of Coordination does not exist. To successfully execute a wedding day, you need at minimum 3 month coordination (we prefer 6). Trust us on this one!
