When your kid asks for the most ADK / Metal thing you’ve ever heard of ,“a black cake with black flies,” for their birthday … you make it happen. Or, rather, you ask ._ to make it happen, baking the blackest of black cakes, staining the tongues, teeth, hands, and hearts of the village’s children.

AND SPEAKING OF TALENT - these cool kids are heading to college any day - but will be back in summers & school breaks to bring first class face painting (or adult arm tattoos - ignore my giant bruise) and mobile nature center + environmental education activities + native turtles to any and all Saranac Lake events. Book them now if you know what’s good for you!

So grateful and proud to know and their amazing, creative friends!! The kids are alright.

Big News for .adk ➡️📰❤️‍🔥 With the severity of my broken leg and resulting surgery that permanently puts me in a different line from you at the airport - combined with the end of my grant to source local farm foods, build/maintain school gardens, and expand k-12 science literacy (if this $ ever comes back at the federal level, we’ll find out eventually)… we’re closing up shop here in the ADKs and relocating back to where we came from. Oregon. By way of Brooklyn. But actually from ✨Queens✨ We’ve still got a few months and a few folks on the books for this summer. It we are not doing the whole grow out thing (which feels sad but also relieving - farming is really stressful and I’m truly a gardener, not a capitalist even for the tiniest profit margin, it’s just not in my nature).

SO if you’re looking for elopement flowers I strongly recommend picking up from in Jay and for bigger events our friends and will take care of you if they still have availability.

There are so many amazing, HARDWORKING vendors here in the North Country. It’s been a pleasure working with every single person here from the farmers, to the florists, to the caterers, to the teacher turned bartender, and the incredible planners, photographers, and makeup artists who’ve helped us grow so so so so so much (we see you and ). We’re going to miss you 😿

It’s time to be one with family life and this baby that isn’t a baby any more! Back to the environmental science world for this plant nerd, her fam, two dogs, cat, and one leg.

Also - if I ever get my stuff back from storage - many decor items, tools, vessels and miscellaneous items to be listed on my website TBD. Possibly my sweet golden van (uhg, painful) and our beautiful historic haunted house (very painful after restoration). But it’s ok, I did what I came here to do. Sort of.

I posted on my personal account but thought I’d mention here that Bell’s Flowers has a broken leg. And had surgery to correct said broken leg. And is hurting 😢 And is not doing flowers for a little bit. In the meantime for everyday flowers head to and get yourself gorgeous, sustainably grown tulips from and for elopements and smaller affairs, hit up my girl Anne who is getting off the ground bringing her farming into the design space. She’s very good! I’m not sure how long I’m elevating this foot for but it’s sounding like 6-12 weeks? 😬 I’m so glad that this is just in time for spring sunshine and warmer weather. Oh well 🤷‍♀️ the universe is trying to tell me something, and slowing down/resting/deep healing must be part of that message.

For background my sister put a casual hex on me following my 30th birthday and it’s basically been cursed ever since. Theoretically it’s supposed to lift when I turn 40 so I guess she had to go out with a bang with 39 (my birthday is on Monday ☘️🇮🇪)

Before breaking my fibula by slipping on the ice in our driveway I had a great time taking our toddler out and about to visit my family in NYC exploring all that public transit and the East River has to offer.

Hang tight during this lunar eclipse while Virgo is in retrograde, y’all! Always take advice is the only spiritual advice I can give.

Sorry if I’ve been behind in email/proposals/inventory/bulb planting/dahlia tuber storage/social media management/seed keeping/and website updating - I am catching up with my best little flower helper and her papa who I feel like I have not seen or hung out with since… March? Sad to see the summer go, the fall go, and winter ahead. But glad to reunite with my little fam and take a minute to breathe/sleep/eat/leave the ADKs for tiny trips. Our last wedding of 2024 will soon be through and we’ve got flowers that need a loving home! Is next week Labor Day already? Adirondack summers are so intensely short, it hurts this gardener’s heart. Growing this business has truly all been a ploy to plan, propagate, plant, cultivate, and compost flowers and enjoy all the pollinators along the way. This has been a season of experimentation, trying new approaches (wow, y’all been out here planting plugs this whole time? Thank you for showing me the light), reveling in native insects, small scale season extension infrastructure, and my many trusty zinnias with new varieties from and of course

Then it all goes back into the soil for next year, just like our fleeting Adirondack summers. Do I have it in me to go to one more county fair on my day off?

It’s August and we’re slinging flowers at Hex & Hop again to raise $ for our friends in Gaza who need to evacuate 16 children and elders the MINUTE the Rafah border opens. Come out TOMORROW TUESDAY AUGUST 6 5:30-8:30 to grab some fresh blooms and delicious brews in lovely Bloomingdale for a good cause. I’ll have a chance to harvest some from our own gardens too (FINALLY the High Peaks rewards the patient and diligent grower). And TONIGHT join and the rest of the community at PS Letter Writing for a Ceasefire to keep pressure on your elected “leaders” at the Adirondacks Center for Writing space at 15 Broadway, Saranac Lake. Join Bell's Flowers ADK this upcoming Saturday at .yes as we do another Make Your Own Bouquet fundraiser as part of the opening reception for show "Another World IS Possible." 12 - 4 pm, July 6th, the Station gallery and weekly summer weekend music festival is located at 1 Kushaqua-Mud Pond Road, Onchiota, NY 12989. Suggested donation for flowers $25 but we'll happily accept more to go to our friend to cover the MUCH INFLATED cost of day-to-day basic needs and the cost of passage out of Gaza. We'll have postcards to write to your elected officals guided by crafted resources as part of the ongoing actions.

As many gorgeous local flowers as we could source from and (a few of our own in this harsh, harsh, harsh climate) with the rest from our brilliant, hardworking friends at I just want to take a minute to publicly scream from the rooftops that OUR TEAM IS AMAZING and worked SO HARD this week for TWO really amazing couples that we love, love, love!! Thank you both and (and - I am assuming - your new husbands as well) for putting your trust in our rag tag little team to bring your beautiful visions to life.

The folks who REALLY love flowers and plants and ecosystems and the environment seem to find their way to us here in the Adirondacks and our aim is to do our absolute best to express our own love for flowers, plants, the land, and people when we put these event flowers together. It really is a great honor to be involved in such a special day for folks and even more so when we share such passion for the environment. I’m so happy these couples are so happy with their amazing wedding days and wish everyone a gigantic “MAZEL TOV” from our team for today and the many years ahead. 🙏 🌸

So many heavenly smelling roses from , peonies, mints, and campanula from , poppies and snapdragons from and many dogwood, raspberry, and, technically all of it, from nature. WOW I am so glad that heat wave passed, what a hard week to be a gardener and/or flower. I’m also happy to whip out these speckled ceramics - more 👏 ceramics 👏 Happy belated solstice and welcome to summer. .adk 10/10 will attract bees into your wedding tent!
