Shoshoni Hostler is an Indigenous designer from the Yurok Tribe who elegantly fuses traditional techniques with contemporary glamorous shapes and styles. Her collection Nar Rew Ekar completely elevates the energy in the room. She is a cultural designer making way for what Indigenous fashion means today.

Introducing Maggie Rose! Originally from the Midwest, Maggie started modeling as a teen but took a few years hiatus to focus on her work in the medical field.

Aside from her passion to pursue her medical career, Maggie loves everything creative, hiking, and spending time outdoors!
Being able to bring other people’s creations to live through modeling truly ignited Maggie’s inner fire. 💜

Introducing Jaidan Mitchell who’s Pomo, Wailaki and Wiyot from Mendocino County. 💜

Modeling calls to Jaidan because it gives her a chance to support her fellow natives, the amazing designs, and it shows other Native girls they can do it too. She wants them to know that regardless of how tall or short you are, or where you come from you can make your dreams come true!

Outside of fashion, Jaidan is passionate about the nursing degree she’s pursuing at the SRJC to become an aesthetic nurse! Jaidan says, “I love making people feel beautiful.”

Despite never walking the runway before, Sovereign Beauty will give Jaidan the opportunity to fulfill a dream she’s had since she was a little girl.

Joshua has been modeling since 2019 and finds it to be a form of expression and liberation that builds confidence. Through the medium of fashion, he finds innovation, versatility and representation.

Here’s what Jordan has to say, “Now si’am(hello), my name is Jordan Thomas-Solis, my ancestral name is Tsx Wiiqwieh, and I come from the Lummi Nation in the Northwestern part of Washington State.

I first stepped onto a runway at the age of 4, and ever since, modeling has felt like a calling—a moment where the world quiets, and I become the vessel that brings fashion to life. It’s where I feel most alive: heels on, world off.

Outside the spotlight, my passions reside in American Indian Higher Education, health and wellness, the art of makeup, and the beautiful journey of motherhood with my 4-year-old son, Josiah, who inspires everything I do.”

We’re so happy to have Shanoa Mitchell walking for Sovereign Beauty next Friday! With modeling experience on and off since 2016, Shanoa is coming to us from Sherwood Valley Reservation representing Pomo, Wailaki, and Wiyot tribes.

She is passionate about advocating for the missing and murdered, wrongfully incarcerated, and being the voice for the voiceless. Modeling is important to Shanoa because it shows the other young rez girls that nothing is impossible and to keep going. 💜

⭐️ Model Spotlight ⭐️

Meet Hope Kibby, born and raised in Humboldt County. Her roots span up and down the Pacific Coast; she is Yurok, Karuk, Wiyot, Chetco, Klamath and a member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz.

Hope started modeling over a year ago and has traveled to 7 different shows from California to New York. She says, "The modeling world is so new to where I come from, I wanted to open that world to our community. I hope to inspire other Indigenous people to not be afraid of trying new things." She never thought she would take on modeling, but with Indigenous fashion paving way in the industry, her perspective is slowly shifting.

Outside of modeling Hope is truly passionate about running. She says, "Running is traditional, running is medicine. Before modern transportation we were runners. Native people were traditionally very fit because our way of life was filled with being active. It’s hard nowadays because life doesn’t give us time for those moments of being active, but I hope to inspire others to prioritize at least a little part of their day moving. That can look like a walk, yoga, dancing, running, or even playing with their little ones. Creating space for a healthy body leads to a healthier mind."
