Couples- some advice for free. People like to do beach weddings because they are such a wonderful part of nature, a powerful reminder that we all live in nature, and a spectacular back drop for your photos. If you're gathering is small enough, they're free! Bigger gatherings with chairs, decorations, and more than a handful of people ( like the one in my photo above) aren't free though. You'll need a permit from State Parks. One big caveat- this time of year here in Santa Cruz County, except for the rare sunny afternoons beaches are usually windy and cold. If you're doing a beach wedding, do it in early afternon, and tell everyone to dress warmly.

Am very pleased to be doing an InterFaith wedding in Santa Cruz this weekend. The weddng combines texts from the Bible, Apache Nation traditions, & ancient Celtic ritual. All done respectfully and with love.

I'm really happy that I have been able to use my love of poetry and ritual to unite so many (337 last count) couples in marriage. I take it as my mission to help couples and their families relax and keep focused on love, not whether or not the cummerbunds match the napkins.
