Tuesday, July 22, 12-1pm

During this training, hosted by Californians for Pesticide Reform, you’ll learn how to use the California Department of Pesticide Regulation’s groundbreaking new online tool—SprayDays—to find out about upcoming hazardous agricultural pesticide applications anywhere in California.

Knowing in advance when and where the most hazardous pesticides are applied is key to protecting public health.

We’ll share the inspiring community-led efforts that brought this tool to life, walk you through how to use SprayDays effectively, discuss the tool's current strengths and limitations, and explore ways you can stay involved to help make SprayDays even better.

Although all are welcome, this training is primarily intended for ally organizations interested in getting a high-level understanding of the new tool and will be conducted in English. A future training in Spanish will be held for interested ally organizations.

Guest speakers will include: Juvenio Guerra of the California Department of Pesticide Regulation and Sakereh Maskal of the Pesticide Action & Agroecology Network

Greetings Grangers,

Come join the fun in the sun at our next garden party and work day at the Santa Cruz Live Oak Grange on Sunday, May 25 at 10:00 am! Help us clean up and beautify our property!.

A free, delicious lunch will be served around noon.

We'll appreciate help with the following tasks:

mowing in and around the orchard and the south side of the building
weeding, weeding everywhere!
applying mulch to the California native plants garden
spreading mulch around fruit trees and perennial beds​​​​​​ and on pathways
tree and shrub pruning
cleaning the stove and refrigerator in the kitchen
finish removing suckers around fruit trees
audit and troubleshoot drip irrigation system
apply fertilizer around fruit trees
apply 4 - 6 inches of wood chip mulch around fruit trees
install new rootstocks (6) in gopher baskets
We have tools at the Grange, including shovels, rakes, pitchforks, pruners, and a couple of wheel barrows. Bring your own tools too along with your gloves, hats, boots (or closed-toe shoes), eye and ear protection (as needed), and water.

Very excited to see MEHKO's beginning to pop up around the Bay area & CA. Home cooking is having a come back as an alternative to the high volume business of processed food. Small in home kitchens to scale cooking up good healthy food for their community. Good stuff is happening and something to look forward to!
