Touring wedding venues are so fun, but don’t forget some of the most important questions to ask your venue before making any decisions! 💒
1. What’s actually included in your rental time?
How many hours do you have access to the space - and what does overtime cost? Also, ask about curfews and local sound ordinances. That dreamy dance floor moment can get cut short quickly if you don’t.
2. Are you required to use preferred or in-house vendors?
Some venues restrict your vendor choices to a pre-approved list. This can impact both your budget and your overall vision, so it’s important to understand flexibility upfront.
3. Is there a dedicated space to get ready (for both Bride and Groom)?
Not all venues offer a private, comfortable area for you and your wedding party to prepare. If this matters to you, don’t assume - it’s not always included. Especially for the guys...
4. What’s the contingency plan for weather or unexpected changes?
Outdoor ceremonies are stunning - but only if there’s a solid, realistic backup plan in place.
5. Will other events be happening at the same time?
Shared spaces can affect parking, privacy, timelines, and your photo locations. Make sure you understand exactly how exclusive your booking is.
6. What are the insurance (COI) requirements?
Many venues require vendors to provide Certificates of Insurance - and sometimes very specific coverage limits or endorsements. If your vendors aren’t prepared for this, it can cause last-minute issues or added costs.
7. When can vendors access the space for setup and breakdown?
Vendor arrival times are often more limited than clients expect. Confirm when load-in can begin, how long setup is realistically allowed, and whether breakdown must happen immediately after the event ends.
At the end of the day, clarity now prevents stress later. Ask the questions, read the fine print, and make sure your venue works as hard as you do.
