Why California’s Media Coalition Must Stand United for the Civic Media Program

A story by Julian Do for American Community Media

What We Bring to Elsewhere by Danny Thien Le

"What are you planning to carry with you?

Echoes of ancestors, soaked in the scent of home

Sepia-toned photos for the family left behind

Signed documents, sealed by an uneasy hand"

Danny Thien Le is a poet, arts advocate, and public librarian based out of San Jose, California. Since 2001, he has written and performed works that revolve around pop culture, the human condition, and his own first-generation Vietnamese American upbringing. On May 20th, Ding Ding was honored with the AAPI Leadership Award by the Silicon Valley Business Journal .

Diana Ding said:

“Ding Ding TV was recognized at the Silicon Valley Business Journal 2026 AAPI Leadership Awards as one of the honored companies making an impact in Silicon Valley.

This recognition means so much to us because it belongs not to one person, but to an entire community of storytellers, organizers, volunteers, partners, and supporters who have worked together to uplift Asian American voices and build meaningful connections across Silicon Valley.

This honor belongs to our Asian American Stories team, our Silicon Valley Lunar New Year Together team, and everyone behind the many successful community events we have created together over the years. Thank you for your passion, creativity, and commitment to bringing people together through culture, media, and community engagement.

A heartfelt thank you to the Silicon Valley Business Journal for this incredible recognition, and special thanks to Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor for attending and supporting us.

It was also wonderful to reconnect with former Fremont Mayor Lily Mei, Sonia Salwan, Alameda County Commissioner, and so many inspiring leaders and entrepreneurs across the Bay Area.

We are proud to stand alongside so many remarkable honorees who are shaping the future of Silicon Valley through leadership, innovation, and service.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. This award belongs to all of us.”
