• Practice stillness – prayer, meditation, or mindful breathingˆ

• Experience nature – let the earth remind you how to slow down

• Gather face-to-face – with your sangha, soul-tribe, or chosen family. It’s always worth the effort.

The nation-state era is fading.

Its structures tremble under the weight of inequality, extraction, surveillance, and exclusion.

This frailty is visible not just in rhetoric but in how countries organize beyond their borders—recognizing they cannot face 21st-century challenges through isolated sovereignty alone.

Consider the European Union, which, despite its struggles, shows how nation-states can lean into deeper integration to manage shared crises and amplify collective power.

Look too at Caribbean states working through organizations like CARICOM—small islands pooling resources and policymaking to overcome vulnerabilities too large for any one state.

From Abenaki to isiZulu, from Hawaiian to Maori, from Cree to Quechua to Yoruba—languages once declared “dead,” “inferior,” or “unnecessary” are returning with power. Schools are forming; elders are teaching; children are reclaiming what their great-grandparents were beaten for speaking.

But this revival reaches beyond grammar.

Narratives are being reclaimed.
Histories are being corrected.
Poetry, drama, and literature are being reborn from the underside of empire.

The hunter’s version of events is losing its monopoly.

In both cases, Jews are not the empire—they are the ones enduring the empire.
Hanukkah recalls defiance; Christmas recalls vulnerability.
One story ends with a reclaimed Temple; the other begins with a hunted child whose family flees as refugees to Egypt to escape state violence.

The Logic of the Landlord
In Frost’s world, and in ours, the land has an owner.
Not someone tending it.
Not someone present.
Not someone who needs it.
But someone with the right to it.
That’s capitalism.

The traveler’s moment of awe is quiet, reverent—
but also furtive, like a trespass.

He has to move on.
He can’t linger.
Because beauty and rest are not his to enjoy without permission.
