For years, this space has been where I’ve shared the celebrations I create, the places I travel, and the beauty that inspires me.

Lately, I’ve felt pulled to share a little more of the perspective behind it all too.

I recently started using Substack in a more personal way. Writing about life, culture, atmosphere, connection, travel, and the moments and people that stay with us long after they happen.

Jonathan Groff has the kind of talent that deserves more than just a ballroom…it deserves a feeling.

For this year’s UC Santa Barbara’s Arts & Lectures Gala, I wanted to create a space that still felt intimate and emotionally connected while carrying the grandeur and theatricality worthy of a performer who can command a stage with a single note.

Layers of candlelight, crystal chandeliers, deep jewel tones, soft draping, and a room designed to feel immersive rather than oversized. Elegant enough for a gala. Personal enough for a story.

And somewhere in the middle of all the production, planning, and last-minute details…this sweet moment with Jonathan Groff happened. Honestly, one of the highlights of the first six months of 2026.

Designing experiences is always about more than aesthetics to me. It’s about creating an atmosphere where people feel something.

If I had gotten the call from Anna Wintour for this year’s Met Gala and its “costume art” energy…this would’ve been the look.

A little couture.
A little chaos.
A little Keith Haring energy reimagined through my lens.

Drama in the train, sharp tailoring, bold graphic movement, and just enough attitude to make the photographers work for it. The kind of look that walks the line between fashion fantasy and classic elegance…which honestly is where I love to live creatively.

Not costume for the sake of costume.
Storytelling through fashion.

And yes…there absolutely would’ve been a moment halfway up those stairs where I stopped, turned, and gave them the shot.

A boy can dream, can’t he?

Maybe next year. I’m free for the first Monday in May.

Wedding season is calling. Travel season is lining up. And fashion…that part never really takes a day off.

Walking into this next stretch a little sharper, a little more intentional…and honestly, a little more grateful.

Last week gave me a bit of a scare. Nothing dramatic, but enough to remind me to actually listen to my body and not push things aside. If something feels off, get it checked. No hesitation.

Funny how quickly that kind of moment resets things. What matters, what doesn’t…where your time and energy really belong.

So yes, we’re stepping into a season of beautiful celebrations, new places, and all the details I love obsessing over…just with a different kind of clarity behind it.

34 years.

Looking at these two photos… one from when we first met and one from just a couple months ago… I keep thinking about how much life can fit between two moments.

We were so young when this began. No roadmap, no guarantees, just something in us that said, “this is it.”

And somehow, after all these years, it still is.

Ross, you are my home. My calm. My constant. The person who has seen every version of me and loved me through them all.

We have built a life filled with family, deep friendships, laughter, adventure, and more stories than I ever imagined we would have.

34 years is not an accident. It is choosing each other over and over. It is patience, forgiveness, resilience, and a love that keeps evolving.

If I had the chance to do it all again, I would find you faster.
