Formerly Big Stage Productions, SBSPA offers pre-professional training for students interested in the performing arts. There are three "tracks" offered to students, which are determined by age and auditions. DEBUT TRACK: (Ages 5-8) Students in this track participate in 2 conservatory classes per week (alternating dance/acting, one vocal) and one rehearsal. Emphasis is on learning about the theater
arts, playing with improvisational theater, and learning about the theatrical instruments (body, voice, and mind). Students audition to be in their own short musical. Program is 10 weeks, two times a year. RISING STAR TRACK: (Ages 9-12) Students in this track participate in 2 conservatory classes per week (one alternating dance/acting, one vocal) and one rehearsal. Classes turn into rehearsal time after 6 weeks of instruction. Emphasis is on learning basic technique in all areas (ballet/jazz dance, diction, musical comedy, vocal technique). Students audition to be in their own full length musical, produced by Arete Productions. See schedule for details. REPERTOIRE TRACK: (Ages 13+) Students in this track participate in 3 conservatory classes per week (dance, acting, and vocal) in addition to one rehearsal. Classes turn into rehearsal after 6 weeks of instruction. Emphasis is on extending basic technique and adding stylistic performance enhancements (Broadway jazz/ballet at a more intense level, character development and scenework, higher understanding of musical language).
