Transforming the Cotillion Ballroom at Nicholls State University wasn’t about decorating a room, it was about completely redefining it. Taking fluorescent lights, columns, and a wide open student union and turning it into an immersive, refined environment layered with intention and detail from the very first step inside.
We created a custom awning installation to transform the hallway entrance, setting the tone before guests ever reached the ballroom. From there, every element unfolded with purpose — Layered ceiling draping to soften the scale. Custom architectural builds to create depth and structure. A full garden moment brought indoors. Two statement bars anchoring the room, curated lounge moments, and our largest monogram dance floor to date at 24x36, setting the stage for the entire night to be a fabulous party!
There is a different level of difficulty when you are working within an existing space like this, especially one that is not inherently beautiful, versus building a tented environment where you control every element from the ground up. Here, every decision has to work harder. Every layer has to transform, conceal, and elevate.
All of it executed on a tight production timeline, with the university’s orientation taking place just hours before we began the full build out, making precision, planning, and ex*****on even more critical. The result was a space that felt entirely transportive and completely unrecognizable.
And the best part, this was all for an incredible family. We truly could not have asked for better people to create this with. A true labor of love we would do over and over again for them! 💕
