The messy behind-the-scenes of my flower-filled life:

1. Some bud vase first drafts in the studio.
2. A very weird ranunculus whom I love.
3. Corsage station.
4. Early mornings and my favorite mug (a mug shot, if you will).
5. Plane-spotting at RSW while I wait for my order to arrive.
6. Classic back of car load-up shot.
7. Whitney’s bouquet catching that SW Florida morning light.
8. Bouquets in formation.
9. Classic back of car load-up video.
10. A very windy light smilax install on the Gulf of Mexico.
11. Lurking paparazzi in the bushes.
12. Lurking paparazzi, but closer.
13. Reception setup
14. On-site cocktail hour pieces.
15. In-studio design time.

6. Rich berry tones, layered and lush, for Emmy + Geoff’s high summer bash at Stowe Mountain Resort

I think we’re all a culmination of our lived experiences, the people we meet and forget, the good things and the ugly ones. All of it is the stardust that gathers to make us who we are.

Individuality is getting increasingly hard to find, so my message to you is be yourself, travel the world (or don’t), do the scary thing, love hard. The world doesn’t need more carbon copies. Make sure you’re living your life, having your dream wedding, doing what brings more joy and beauty to this world.

Thanks for being a part of this journey.

We love a lush, flowery meadow nestled in a summertime field. Bees buzzing, hazy air settling over the mountains, the clinking of glasses somewhere off in the distance. New England summers aren’t too far off if you squint really hard.

Real talk: moving ain’t easy. This move was the right one for our little family. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss the northeast. I miss the local flowers, and even though it tried to kill me, I miss my greenhouse.

My dahlias and peonies have been overwintering in our little studio on an old farm nestled somewhere in Woodstock. I have no idea how they’re doing, if the mice have eaten their fill. If the extremely cold Vermont winter sent them to their demise.

Everything has a season. One of the pillars of this business has been to be inspired by seasonality, by nature, by my surroundings. And I feel I’ve gotten away from that lately, and that I’m ready to come home to myself, my business, my art. I’ve listened too closely to social media — constantly trying to keep up — but really, that’s impossible, isn’t it?

What isn’t impossible is listening to my intuition. It’s always been stronger than most, to the point where I feel others pain. And I think that’s also part of why I became a floral designer, an artist of sorts. There’s so much pain and suffering in our lives, and if I can make the world a little bit more beautiful, a little more whole, a little more intentional, then I’m rich.

This post was meant to be short. And to celebrate that I’ve started finding some incredible local(ish) growers (hey, ). That finding farmers and growers who value local flowers, sustainability, and beauty in the everyday is possible wherever you land. Sometimes, you just need to look.

Blue Door isn’t just a floral design studio. It’s a lifestyle. It’s intentional. It’s built on the infinite search for and creation of beauty. It’s a safe space and a warm hug. It’s quiet luxury, storytelling through flowers. It’s all of those things, and I’m so glad that so many of you have chosen to be a part of its evolution and journey. Roots are good — but not the kind that hold you back.
