Some of our own are going through an unexpected and serious turn of events. Sarah from and her beautiful little girl Avila need our support. My team and I are asking for support. We need to rally around Sarah and Avila for this round of tacos!
After months of doctor visits and testing different medications for Avila’s symptoms, further blood work and an ultrasound have Avila’s doctor a cause for concern, so it was recommended they travel yo Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) for testing.
Avila spent the next 10 days in CHLA where she underwent testing, a surgical removal and biopsy of her lymph node, and a PET scan - the results ultimately confirmed Avila’s diagnosis of Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
For treatment, Avila will be receiving chemotherapy treatments at CHLA alternating weeks for the next 4-6 months.
Thankfully, this form of cancer has been studied thoroughly, and they have made great progress in how they treat Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. There is about a 90% success rate in treating her form of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The oncology team at Children’s Hospital LA is excellent, and Avila is in good hands!
Tacos Pt 20 is going to be different.
Tickets are higher this time, yes, but there is a lot more going on! DMQ BBQ will be serving up taco plates, Harmony Ice cream will be serving cones, Nautical Bean will be serving coffee, Mixed Events will be serving wine and Central Coast Tacos will be serving agua fresca. There will also be live music with Dan Curcio with DJ Javi serving emcee.
As the tacos are flowing, we will also be hosting a silent auction with some pretty swine packages donated by our amazing vendor community and dear friends.
Tickets are $40 and 100% of the proceeds will go to Avila to help with medical expenses and travel. Basically, we don’t want them to worry about anything except getting Avila healthy and comfortable.
