Over 125,000 of us Portuguese-Americans call the Bay Area home and a large number of us share a love for the world's game, the beautiful game; soccer! Over the years, thousands of Portuguese-American fans have purchased tickets to our Portuguese Heritage Nights and in the process have added to the vibrant presence of our community throughout the stadium, decked out in their red and green, cheering

, chanting and having a blast. There have been some very memorable Portuguese-themed performances over the years, including DJ’s, folklore groups, marching bands and more! Who could forget the Portuguese National Team player meet and greets we’ve also hosted at this event including such legends as Simão Sabrosa, Ricardo, Marco Caneira, Yannick Djalo and more! We’re also super proud for our TEN years of Portuguese-themed giveaway items, these collectibles come with the special event tickets. Items like bobbleheads, t-shirts, scarves, flags, tote bags and many more. It’s always a memorable summer day at Paypal Park, leaving the entire stadium expressing their appreciation for the night’s culturally-themed events and celebrations. With that said we are keeping the tradition alive and once again partnering with the Portuguese community and your San Jose Earthquakes to host the TENTH annual Portuguese Heritage Night, Saturday August 20th 2022! We invite you to bring the whole family out, yes even Avô & Avó, as there is something for everyone at this event!

*FIRST GOAL!* - Kicking the "First Goal" tonight as part as Portuguese Heritage Night w/ the San Jose Earthquakes, is Melissa Silva, Social Director for the Azores Band of Escalon!

Melissa is a proud daughter of immigrant parents from the island of Terceira, Azores. She joined the Azores Band of Escalon in 2005 and began serving on the Band Committee in 2007, most consistently as Social Director.

In 2018, she founded the Azores Band of Escalon Scholarship Program to support and recognize young musicians within the organization and in 2023, she played a key role in organizing the band’s third performance trip to the Azores for Sanjoaninas. Most recently, she joined the Board of Directors and now serves as Marketing and Sponsorship Coordinator for the 20th Festival das Filarmónicas—while continuing her work as Social Director.

Outside of music, Melissa is a passionate supporter of the San Jose Earthquakes. As a devoted season ticket holder, she has traveled to over a dozen Major League Soccer stadiums to cheer on her team across the country.

Congratulations! Go get um Melissa!

We are very excited to welcome MAGÏN as our Pre-Game performer at tomorrow's Portuguese Heritage Night celebration! B MAGÏN is a trilingual lyricist and recording artist from Northern California whose parents originate from the Azores Island of Terceira (Portugal). He commonly incorporates Portuguese & Latin cultures/styles into his music to create a truly unique & memorable sound. After being nominated in 2022 for an International Portuguese Music Awards, MAGÏN is now working on his 10th studio project called “FIFA” set to be released this fall! Join us in welcoming him to PayPal Park!

Check him out right around 6:30pm in the Epicenter! 🎤
