new (ish) project ✨❤️ Astarion ❤️✨ we are so excited to share progress our first baldurs gate 3 cosplay 🥹 this game has been an absolute obsession since it came out so it's only right we hop on the cosplay train for it 😂
initially we wanted to make the #1 babygurl of the game - the emperor 💅🏻 but the scale of that one was a bit over whelming LOL so we starting with the #2 babygurl 😌💖 still planning to make the emperor eventually for peter, and then i (katy) will wear tadpole touched astarion with him ✨💀 we excited 🐛
we've been working on astarion's shirt and doublet so far 🛠️ the base shirt layers are 1) a basic undershirt with the collar + cuff lace basted on, i made the undershirt historically inspired after going to the ren fair ✨ planning to reuse this for other costumes! 2) a wrap vest with double breasted buttons, made from some old linen curtains for an interesting weave texture and lined with muslin 3) the weird red insert was conceived to avoid an additional layer 😂 it attached onto the vest's buttons and since the doublet covers almost all of the base layer, none will be the wiser and my sweaty armpits will thank me 😌🙌🏻
the doublet is going to be a pretty epic project because i'm doing all the embroidery by hand 🥲✨ i have it patterned, and constructed the lining and a few pieces, and am just slowly working on all that gold 💀🤙🏻 the embroidery is goldwork couching - basically sewing gold threads down on top of the fabric, it's a embroidery technique i learned after doing a bit of research/reading on traditional goldwork, i have a great tutorial book i bought on amazon if anyone wants to check it out DM us!
