The free program showcased service, therapy, and emotional support dogs for veterans.

More than a collection, Transmutation is an observation. Starting August 1st, our exhibition Transmutation: The Art of Hans Casanova will be open to the public.

Some moments are so brief they escape notice.
A wave dissolves into foam. A leaf turns gold. A nail bends under pressure. Wood softens, cracks, and returns to the earth. The world is filled with these quiet transitions—moments when one thing becomes another.

In Transmutation, internationally acclaimed jewelry artist Hans Casanova captures those fleeting states of becoming. Drawing from decades of observation and extraordinary technical mastery, he transforms precious metals and gemstones into works that hold transformation still long enough for us to see it.
These are not depictions of objects; they are portraits of change itself. By preserving what is ordinarily temporary, Casanova invites us to reconsider our relationship with time, memory, beauty, and impermanence. For a moment, the world pauses. And transformation reveals itself.

📣 Choreographer Alonzo King and LINES Ballet’s regular collaborations with the San Francisco Symphony feel both like a homecoming and an evolution of a shared artistic language.

In reimagining the expansive Americana of Copland’s Appalachian Spring and the evocative, impressionistic textures of Debussy’s Prelude to The Afternoon of a Faun, King and LINES Ballet invite us to explore how movement and sound breathe together in real time.

Conductor James Gaffigan and SF Symphony Principal Cello Rainer Eudeikis expand the palette with Prokofiev’s sardonic and spectacular Sinfonia concertante. This cello concerto in all but name boasts one of the most demanding roles in the repertoire. The cello doles out every frequency in its range, from throbbing low notes to piercing cries.

📣 We’re thrilled to have San Francisco Dance Film Fest back in the 🎥 Get ready for the time of your life.

On Thursday, September 17, we’re bringing DIRTY DANCING back to the big screen — and we’re bringing along the Emmy Award-winning choreographer who shaped every move of this iconic film.

A Bay Area native and one of Hollywood’s most decorated creative forces, Kenny Ortega will share behind-the-scenes stories of how the film came together, his craft of designing choreography for the camera, and personal reflections from a career that has spanned generations (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, High School Musical, Michael Jackson’s This Is It, and more!).

​​The screening and Q&A will be followed by an exclusive afterparty featuring drinks, giveaways, and a themed dance party to close out the night in style.

The GG Orchestra will make its Herbst Theatre debut on Sunday, August 30, 2026, presenting an evening of beloved music from anime and video games in the heart of San Francisco.

Joined by Sudo Choir, the orchestra will bring audiences music from Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, Pokémon, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Frieren, Genshin Impact, Dota 2, Grand Theft Auto, Super Mario Bros., and The Legend of Zelda, alongside additional selections to be announced.
