RIP to Uncle Larry who was a real one—unlike any US President you can remember. He was a man uncancelable even by bullets. Although one put him in an 18k gold-plated wheelchair for the last 4 decades of his life, he never stopped standing up for free speech and seeking truth on behalf of all Americans. “Never meet your heroes” did not apply to Larry. As a friend said, “If you look around at how pathetic and fake our leaders are today, it makes total sense that the *true champion* of free speech would be a guy like Larry Flynt.” I’ll always be proud of the strong connection he had with my parents and will always love imagining those underdog years before I was born/too young to experience.⠀
⠀
⠀
Gillibus will honor Larry in terrific eternal fashion soon but in the meantime, please hug your free-speech-crusading/famous pornographer/publishing emperor fam a little tighter today.

“Get out of my life!!!...But first could you drive me and to the mall?”
Hey kids. We know how hard it is out there especially now that you can’t go to the mall every weekend. So here’s a tip: forget your folks, the ride, the mask, and strap on your VR headset so you can transport yourself to the mall...online...i.e. bigcartel...our store link’s in the bio. Anyway, then maybe catch a movie with some chatroom buddies and pretend to try your first cigarette in the parking lot by va**ng? The only way you could make that any cooler is if you do it wearing a Gillibus tee shirt. Get one today!
Thanks to merch factory and vintage arcade in the Haight and for printing!

“I go to paaaarties sometimes until 4....but also go to where volunteers work til 4 every Friday-Sunday to build an outdoor performance venue and convert a Gillibus into a Filipino Jeepney” 🎶 Come on down and see what it’s all about (having some fun working on a cool project with cool ppl instead of feeling like a husk of a person lol)

"I share the frustration many are feeling that we have to switch our clocks once again this November. While we have made progress towards ditching the practice of switching our clocks twice a year, my effort was stalled due to the pandemic and a shortened legislative session." - Assemblyman Kansen Chu (D-San Jose), who co-authored the prop which California voters approved in 2018 but was shot down by the federal govt in 2020.

Whether your makes you think Russia did it or your tells you everything’s a textbook communist demoralization tactic, keep your chin up because now you know for sure that there’s a wine bar in St. Pete’s, Florida that certifiably doesn’t suck. I’m dying to reunite and try the wines—as well as the Sunday morning ground scores!

Helping fave fearless freak Mer install some prototype mural lights. In college I lived in a basement and we’d play Rock Band on Xbox 360 all night volume full blast cigs inside even tho neither of us smoked

A quick PSA while we all have some downtime: A “gang” is usually defined as 3 or more individuals who spend time in public places, see themselves (and are seen by others) as a noticeable group, engage in criminal activity, wear common accessories and/or articles of clothing, and identify with a common name or sign

08/17/2020
My fave cliche is “politics is show business for ugly people” because somewhere in it’s an implication that maybe beautiful people can transcend the sleazy horror of that industry to make life better for the rest of us. Jackie is one of those beautiful people willing to try. Look up her record. Then forget the presidential election because it’s out of our hands. Then volunteer for this CA State Senate D-11 (SF, Daly City, South SF) race because it’s in our hands. Jackie can pull off an upset and deal a blow to every single powerful lobby. The power brokers think their carefully assembled perfectly diabolical system is forever and that you’re just comfortable enough not to try and beat it. But we the people are the beautiful ones, and one way or another, as Prince sang, “the beautiful ones always smash the picture, always, every time” @ San Francisco, California

08/13/2020
Actual good news to share! One of the Gillibuses found a home as an installation at ’ Kapwa Gardens, an outdoor community space coming to downtown SF. A Gillibus will be transformed into a classic Filipino “jeepney,” an iconic cultural symbol made from vintage US military jeeps and still used for all sorts of transportation-related activities (including partying). Thanks to .mo_studio for designing us into what you’re doing with 🇵🇭
.
Want a vintage Gillig school bus as an installation/studio/tiny home/parklet/anything your heart’s imagination desires? Inquire within because our non-op buses need homes—and you need a cool project to distract you from the increasingly rapid systemic failure of our fake democracy! 🇺🇸 @ SOMA Pilipinas Filipino Cultural Heritage District

Spent the week in Yosemite drinking from a fountain that was pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain

06/17/2020
Partied in honor of Donald Trump’s bday on Sunday! But for real: you need to understand that the dude, James, like most of us, had never organized a protest before last Sunday’s Bay Bridge demonstration. He called me up last week on my insecure phone line, said he was inspired by attending the Mission High rally, had an idea, and wanted me to help make it happen. Fast forward and suddenly James was fearless in a scary situation. The leaders and orgs that supported him were too and they sent a message. Oh and FYI: by insisting on arresting a group of peaceful protestors right there on the bridge after they offered to end the demonstration, the police caused an additional +2 hour delay. Fortunately it was the stupidest decision they made besides one unnecessary chokehold. and and have a lot of the good 📸

06/06/2020
“You write ‘born to chill’ on your helmet and you go to Black Lives Matter protests? What’s that supposed to be? Some kind of sick joke?”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
No, sir. Something about the duality of man is what makes Gillibus militantly committed to not only partying but also demonstrating against violent racist imperialist institutions. Too many white people are on the sidelines afraid of looking like influencers at Coachella. Get over yourself. Don’t feel surprised or guilty if you feel something good because of the vibrancy and cool people in the crowd showing they also want a new system. If you’re tired of worrying about how to perform on social media but want to contribute, the simple way to show support authentically + creatively is by marching in the streets in the coming months.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In SF the wind sucks this weekend but it’ll be blowing at protestors’ backs.

05/28/2020
Your thirst responders at Gillibus are serving up round 2 of bottled spicy margs! This weekend’s Bus Pass means window pickups @ Precita Park on Friday but the real action will be in GG Park on Saturday and Sunday. We found the perfect spot to chill, so we’ll be posted up @ MLK Drive + 7th Ave entertaining the socially distant audience out in the field. Pre-order via link in bio or just stop by!

Ask not what your country can do for you—ask what the has been doing for the past 70 years amirite! Too many great psy ops to celebrate I mean count. Gillibus isn’t one of them though. We promise!

05/21/2020
Link-in-bio alert!!! Are you in SF this weekend? We’ll meet you in the park and bring fresh, pre-mixed w/tequila, spicy margs. The 32 oz. glass bottles are sealed and reusable. We also mixed up a Spotify playlist as a garnish. Think of this as a deconstructed Saturday daytime Gillibus party: we're offering only 32 pitchers i.e. one for every seat on the bus. Pre-order NOW!

To commemorate this road show, we've got limited edition “Gimme Shelter (in Place) Tour ‘20” tees which are available in our online store here (and also come with a Margarita Mix playlist). The shirts and bottle labels are a collab with our buddy, . @ Margaritaville!!!!!

05/07/2020
Ah yes. I remember my first 30th birthday. Today it’s 75 and sunny (with a 50% chance of crippling anxiety) so might treat myself to a little gallon of margaritas to celebrate the big 3-0 once again.

Buenos tardes @ Joppa Road

S Q U A R E one in 2013. Initially in 2011 and 2012 we just had a huge mattress, some lumber and homemade upholstery shoved in the back of the first and only bus. This was the design to make a pro version of that buildout. Note the 3000 watt PAs + atomic extreme strobe lights mounted on the exterior facing outwards for maximum high-income urban neighborhood disturbance capacity 🎶 @ Sea Cliff Neighborhood

True story: , which was a Gillibus client some years ago, called me on Friday and asked me to take their name off the Gillibus dot com list of clients. No explanation given. So I said no...and demanded instead that they go tell their boy 🐀 to drop out of the Democratic primary. Well mission accomplished, everybody! Now—for Pete’s sake—don’t forget to vote for on Tuesday and “Shop Smart: Shop !” @ Democratic National Commitee Headquarters
