Lamplighters Music Theatre

Premiering in 1878, H.M.S. PINAFORE was Gilbert & Sullivan's first smash hit and became the gold standard for light opera for generations to come. While Gilbert takes aim at class divisions and assumptions of authoritative competence, Sullivan delivers some of the pair's most famous hummable tunes, including the iconic and much parodied, "When I was a lad." Sir Joseph Porter's hymn to himself, this song to this day begs the question, "Is it possible that high offices of state are occupied by clueless idiots?" Queen Victoria may not have been amused by the satire of those in authority, but in nearly 150 years, millions of audience members certainly have been!

Nā Lei Hulu i ka Wēkiu | 40 Years of HulaKEAO ─ An evening of classic Hawaiian music by Ka Hui Hoa and hula by Nā Lei Hulu i ka Wēkiu

Featuring an exciting new trio of young Hawaiian musicians from Hawai'i island who excel in the leo ki'eki'e tradition of Hawaiian falsetto—Heua Sai-Dudoit, winner of the 20th Annual Richard Ho'op'i'i Leo Ki'eki'e Falsetto Contest, Kapono Lopes, and Sean Parks.

While we are known for our innovative approach to hula and music, we also love classic Hawaiian songs made popular by iconic musicians such as Hui 'Ohana, Kahauanu Lake Trio, Mahi Beamer, Lena Machado, the Brothers Cazimero, and many more.

This is a show dedicated to "the classics"—beautiful Hawaiian songs that have stood the test of time—from the Golden Age of Hawaiian music to the Hawaiian Renaissance. We joyfully return to our roots with a young group of talented musicians who are starting their own legacy.

LEGACY ─ The Artistry of Men in Hula
50 years of Hula with Robert Cazimero and the men of Nā Kamalei o Līlīlehua
40 years of Hula with Patrick Makuakāne and the men of Nā Lei Hulu

Join Patrick Makuakāne and the men of Nā Lei Hulu, as they celebrate with the titans of hula in a show dedicated to the artistry of male hula. A tribute to the decades of cultural vibrancy, artful choreography and masculine grace that became the hallmark style of Robert Cazimero and Nā Kamalei.
