A little history: The Rotunda Building opened as Kahn's Department Store, designed by Bay Area architect Charles W. Dickey, whose glass dome was considered a feat of engineering at the time. Seven stories of Beaux-Arts detailing, listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1989, and restored over two years to bring the original craftsmanship back to life.
What that means when you're planning an event:

🪜 The gilded staircase is your grand entrance, your photo backdrop, and your program moment. Already built, already stunning.
🏛️ Fluted Ionic columns and curved balustrades give the room texture at every level, so bare walls are never a problem here.
✨ The inlaid floors were laid to mirror the dome above. Look down, look up, same story.
We tell every planner the same thing: come in light. Low centerpieces keep sightlines open to the ceiling. Uplighting on the columns beats anything you could hang. A tight palette pulled from the gilt and stone will always look intentional.
The budget you don't spend on draping is budget you can spend on the bar. 🥂
