'Eiming was the first person to put art, drinking, and music together in a public business in San Francisco." -- Michelle Delaney / 111 Minna Gallery
Founded by Eiming Jung, 111 Minna Gallery opened its doors at 111 Minna Street in the SoMa aka Yerba Buena District of San Francisco in 1993. This location would later become the heart of an up and coming art district, which was later solidified wit
h the construction of the SF MOMA, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and progressive galleries in the surrounding area. With a business model focused on service and hospitality, patrons began to relish the visual aesthetics sourced from Bay Area artists, in conjunction with the laid-back atmosphere that has long been associated with 111 Minna. While acting as host for a vast variety of art, specifically focused on underground, low brow, edgy and often controversial, 111 Minna quickly became, for many artists, the San Francisco gallery to exhibit their work, gaining a reputation for launching artists’ careers, both nationally and internationally. Since 1993, 111 Minna Gallery has maintained its reputation for constant progression and positive energy, and in so doing, has become a cornerstone of San Francisco culture. We're proud to be San Francisco's melting pot of creativity, art, music, and good times.

TOMORROW NIGHT!!!!
For the Art Walk
THE TENDERLOIN MUSEUM
398 Eddy St., SF
This Thursday, “Dave Glass: Central City 1970-2016” opens in TLM’s gallery space in concert with the art walk in the TL! 10/5 5:30-7:30pm; free!
A San Francisco native who worked for three decades as a laundromat owner-operator and appliance repairman all over the city, has the unique vantage point of someone who frequently bears witness to locals’ most intimate, everyday spaces. He received formative training in CCSF’s “working class” photojournalism program, and he diligently made pictures while continuing to practice his trade. Glass’ resulting oeuvre shows us a long view of San Francisco, revealing cycles of urban decay, reconfiguration, and gentrification, alongside the city’s resilient and persistent elements.
As the name suggests, “Central City 1970-2016” focuses on Glass’ images from the dense, bustling Tenderloin neighborhood and adjacent areas. Learn more about the show via the link in our bio!
For a superlative reflection on Glass, check out the retrospective feature in (Feb ‘22 with a text by Frances Richard) that surveys his 50+ years of photographing the “shabby Victorian metropolis” of San Francisco (link in stories).
Join us for an opening reception this Thursday October 5th from 5:30-7:30pm!
And on Thursday December 7th, Glass will give an artist talk on his 50+ year long photography practice and “Central City 1970-2016” in conversation with Adrian Martinez & Austin Leong, fellow photographers and co-directors of the Tenderloin’s
We look forward to seeing you at the museum to celebrate and discuss Glass’ work and unique perspective on SF history and street life.

By D YOUNG V
This 14 piece installation captures two generations of T.W.A.T., founded in 2002 by
"For those of you unfamiliar with T.W.A.T., it stands for Tenderloin Water Athletic Team. Originally named 'Renegade Swim Team' by it's founder Christopher Jernberg aka 'The Navigator' in 2002.
The team's name was briefly switched to 'Tenderloin Competitive Swim Team' with their signature and unforgettable motto 'First one's in, last one's one out' in 2011.
In 2022 the team was officially renamed T.W.A.T. to better represent the eccentric and unruly personalities and backgrounds of it's members; artists and locals based in the Tenderloin and surrounding areas. You can find 'em making waves every Sunday afternoon at Aquatic Park, rain or shine.
Just look for the buffet spreads of fine French foods, American beers and varied Scotch whiskies surrounded by g***a and cigarette smoke.
True champions of The Bay!!!!!"

'PAINTED LADIES '
New Works by
Brandon Joseph Baker
September 30th,
5 - 10pm
At Molotov's
582 Haight st., SF
Is there anything more San Francisco than an exhibition entitled 'PAINTED LADIES' at ? We'll be sure to find out TONIGHT, Saturday, September 30th!!!!
"Painted Ladies is a series of mixed media collage artworks by Brandon Joseph Baker about the ever adapting concept of “home” and the places, people and experiences which define that for each individual. Brandon Joseph Baker photographed the popular tourist attraction houses on Steiner Street in San Francisco and added symbolic references to other locations around the city to create an abstract narrative defining home in each piece. Weaved into each of the artworks are figures, editorial art and ads photographed from vintage Pl***oy magazines to reinforce and conjure a nostalgia for memories of the past. Each piece has highly intricate details and hidden “easter eggs” of symbolic references to other works by the artist, other San Francisco artists, lovers, corner stores, donut shops and dive bars.
All of Baker’s work begins with photographs he’s taken in his studio and prints before cutting them out to create these intricate pieces. There’s a veritable smorgasbord of behind the scenes content on Instagram showing his process of creating these works.
The series of 6 original works are 18x24 and will be available to purchase at Molotov’s (582 Haight) as part of the Lower Haight Art Walk." -

"I'm taking a break from the bay. It's time for me to finally let go of San Francisco. I gotta
pick somewhere else to exist as an artist and survive in peace. This is gonna be my last
show. A farewell to Frisco." - Williams about the current state of life in SF.
The artist's decision to relocate serves as a wake-up call, shedding light on the urgent need for addressing the rising crime rates, affordable housing crisis, and drug abuse problem in San Francisco. Tim's story reflects the struggles faced by many creative individuals who find themselves forced to leave their hometowns in search of more nurturing
environments.
This exhibition concludes the narrative he began with Ticket To Ride, his 2021 exhibition
championing legends of San Francisco by telling their story via paintings of giant MUNI transfers and accompanying essays.
Travelin’ Man showcases new paintings and works on paper of reimagined designs of airplane baggage claim tags from cities around the world and portraits of people the artist encountered in each respective location. His technique creates a juxtaposition of intimate human faces against the backdrop of globalization, changing perspective from small to large scale and opening a dialogue about the significance of personal connections, cultural
exchange, and the yearning for new horizons.
The pictural narrative is extended by Williams’ new book “Travelin Man”, to be released at the opening night. “The bag transforms into a different version of itself every time you zip it. A melting pot of
your experiences. An anchor. The only piece of home you carry in the world.” - Excerpt of the exhibition book “Travelin’ Man”

'SHIFTING SEASONS'
By Ursula X Young
At Luna Rienne Gallery
3318 22nd st. (@ Valencia st).,SF
6-9pm
"Shifting Seasons, featuring gorgeous new work by Ursula Xanthe Young ( ). Which of you lovely people will join us?" -
"Shifting Seasons delves into the effects of extreme weather: what our planet and, more specifically, San Francisco and its surrounds might look like in a changing climate. Marrying her love of nature with the magical reality of what is, what was, and what could be, Ursula Xanthe Young takes us through the seasons of her imaginary visions. We see San Francisco through different phases: in winter filled with snow, submerged underwater after rainy season, bursting with vibrant green in tropical spring, super blooming wildflowers after epic rainfall, enduring desert conditions in blazing dry summer, and celebrating autumn with a universe of fungi and and fall colors. Young's latest body of work is both a fantastical daydream and a cautionary vision.
Ursula Xanthe Young is a painter, illustrator, and graphic designer whose urban fairy tale images have become a trademark of street culture in San Francisco and beyond. Her fine-lined illustrations and colorful modern paintings exude a style that is unique and appealing to art lovers of all kinds. Young grew up in the green rural dales of Northern England and studied art in New York, Florence, Vermont, Oslo, and London. After graduating from Parsons School of Design , she moved to San Francisco’s Lower Haight district and spent nearly a decade there. Following a stint in Alaska, Ursula has settled in Grass Valley CA, where she now lives and works."

[ San Francisco-based cultural provisioners, Justin Smith (aka Lil’ Zen Ten) and Daisy San Luis, are partners and owners of TigerBunny Studio, where art, jewelry and vintage curations provide the backdrop for community building and discovery. With the former keeping busy with graphic design, animation, DJ-ing, emceeing, and scriptwriting and the latter dreaming up and metal-smithing ‘sentimentalist’ bespoke jewelry pieces (including the now infamous SF Token Ring), the dynamic duo know a thing or two about what it takes to give their hearts to the arts. And now, they want to further spread that love on behalf of The City they call home.
“From San Francisco With Love” is a love letter to the city by the bay and a tribute group show featuring a dizzying line-up of impressive Bay Area artists specializing in various mediums and styles ranging from illustrators, traditional sign painters, graffiti artists, muralists, tattoo artists and more. Each artist will feature their unique expressions on vintage San Francisco postcards which will be available to purchase. Because the stacked roster of renowned creators typically commands impressive prices for their works, this would be the perfect opportunity for collectors and beginning art enthusiasts alike to acquire a smaller, more accessible, one-of-a-kind composition from the greats. The show’s collective is anchored by hometown hero and unofficial mayor of North Beach, Jeremy Fish, whose work can be seen everywhere from iconic local eateries to New Balance kicks, from the occasional dispensary to murals and galleries around the world. As a long-time resident of The City since the ‘90s, he has a deep conviction to serving the people and places that make the 7x7 unforgettable. ] -

'Eiming was the first person to put art, drinking, and music together in a public business in San Francisco." -- Michelle Delaney / 111 Minna Gallery
Founded by Eiming Jung, 111 Minna Gallery opened its doors at 111 Minna Street in the Yerba Buena District of San Francisco in 1993. With the construction of the SF Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), Museum of the African Diaspora, (MoAD), Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and many other galleries and arts organizations, this location would go on to become the heart of San Francisco’s art district.
We're proud to be San Francisco's meeting ground for art, music, creativity, community service, and good times.

20 Years ago me and some friends created the "My Adidas" art show. It opened at 111 Minna Gallery, travelled to LA, Tokyo and Hong Kong. In the end the whole collection was bought by Adidas for their museum in Germany. This was my entry:
That one time I painted a plastic toy. It was for a "Hurricane Katrina" benefit show at 111 Minna Gallery with Kidrobot, in 2005. I think those toys were called, Munnies or Dunnies something.
