'Eiming was the first person to put art, drinking, and music together in a public business in San Francisco." -- Michelle Delaney / 111 Minna Gallery

Founded by Eiming Jung, 111 Minna Gallery opened its doors at 111 Minna Street in the SoMa aka Yerba Buena District of San Francisco in 1993. This location would later become the heart of an up and coming art district, which was later solidified wit

h the construction of the SF MOMA, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and progressive galleries in the surrounding area. With a business model focused on service and hospitality, patrons began to relish the visual aesthetics sourced from Bay Area artists, in conjunction with the laid-back atmosphere that has long been associated with 111 Minna. While acting as host for a vast variety of art, specifically focused on underground, low brow, edgy and often controversial, 111 Minna quickly became, for many artists, the San Francisco gallery to exhibit their work, gaining a reputation for launching artists’ careers, both nationally and internationally. Since 1993, 111 Minna Gallery has maintained its reputation for constant progression and positive energy, and in so doing, has become a cornerstone of San Francisco culture. We're proud to be San Francisco's melting pot of creativity, art, music, and good times.

ALTERED STATES
VOL.2
BY JOHN OSGOOD

THANK YOU for this lovely Holiday Gift!

For those of you unfamiliar with John Osgood, he has been a regular participant in our Post Covid Sketch Nights and part of the 111 Minna Artist roster since his solo exhibition with us 'THE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN' in the summer of 2018.

John is also an active and prolific mural artist. There is nothing more we at 111 Minna Gallery love more then a full on muralist!!!!! To see more of his wall sized exploits visit:

https://www.wescover.com/creator/john-osgood

This latest volume of Altered States contains a collection of recent illustrations from John's 'black books' (drawing books) coupled with inspirational/introspective quotes from various artists/writers/thinkers who promote the use of psychedelics for reaching higher and more intimate states of human connection.

"Sometimes the journey is more important than the destination. It’s the experiences along the way that provide us with valuable insights… sometimes those experiences are purposeful, sometimes they are arbitrary and sometimes they are “happy accidents”. How we learn from this journey and create memories from them, weaves the fabric of who we are. What do we chose to keep? What do we chose to cover up? My paintings are reflections of my journey in life and this body of work poignantly depicts my transition from the Pacific NW to the San Francisco Bay Area. I am a process-oriented artist. I begin paintings with large strokes of color and add texture as I go. I may have up to 20 paintings going through this process at any given time. Just like there are many choices we can make in life to change the outcome, I am in a constant state of flux with my pieces until the path becomes clear. I leave hints and cues with text and symbols in each painting leading the viewer to find their own interpretation of our shared human experience." - John Osgood

THIS YEAR'S 2022 MOST PROLIFIC SAN FRANCISCO ARTIST AWARD GOES TO...

AMANDA LYNN!!!!!

That fact that she is currently exhibiting at
with for their collaboration exhibition WILDFLOWERS absolutely did not factor into this decision...really!

One can't venture anywhere in this city with running into Amanda's work. Sides of buildings showcasing her murals, interiors and exteriors of big and small buisiness, roll down doors, alleyways, interiors of people's apartments and houses, the ever present magnets I find of her's on just about everyones refrigeraters in this city, and now multi level elevater shafts like the one pictured in this post located at 111 Minna Street are just the smallest portion of her work that be seen all over the world!!!!!

GO AMANDA LYNN!!!!!

WILDFLOWERS is currently on view at 111 Minna Gallery until Jan. 13th 2023.

A Solo Exhibition by Gabriel Kasor
Soft Times Gallery
Dec. 1st - 23rd 2022

Gabriel Kasor is a Tenderloin local, this is his first solo exhibition. We're all happy to see him pop his cherry at Soft Times Gallery. For those of you unfamiliar with Soft Times Gallery, it's an artist run/independent space located in SF's Lower Nob Hill. They made their debut recently during the Covid pandemic and have been going and growing strong ever since. It's been great to see them liven up the neighborhood! They've recently added an annex space on Geary @ Leavenworth run by Brent and Soft Times co-founder/Director Sarah Choe. We'll be covering that soon, so stay tuned...

[“El Mágico”, a new exhibit from Gabriel Kasor, features new works by this talented local artist based in the Tenderloin, near the gallery.

Kasor’s work draws from renaissance portraiture characteristics, with added layers of a modern color palette, charming still life, and bits of humor here and there. A truly prolific painter, Kasor is a magician of a seemingly effortless, yet truly disciplined art practice, churning out amazing painting after amazing painting.

El Mágico is Kasor’s first solo exhibition in his emerging career, as well as the first solo exhibition presented by Soft Times. This exhibit will also feature limited edition prints signed by the artist.] - Soft Times Gallery

ROOFTOP RETREAT!!!!!

SPECIAL THANK YOU TO for putting on this truly memorable event for and The Bay Area Art Community!!!!!!

Taking full advantage of the new and improved rooftop retreat and bar at , myself and were able to document this wonderful experience with this series of photos.

Having the opportunity to break away from the AMAZINGLY curated '16x16' group show (featuring over 90 artists) to the rooftop really provided such a conducive enviroment to fully engage with fellow artists, art goers, friends and neighbors while soaking in the brilliantly lit San Francisco downtown skyline.

It was great catching up with, talking shop and discussing new ideas with old friends, new friends and potential friends. Nights like this are such a great and necessary reminder of the intimate and inspirational community that exists here in The Bay.

We really do have a tight knit and highly supportive community here that reflects on our reputation worldwide.

It's truly refreshing to know that we really are in this together. The last ten years brought us many changes that often created seperation, displacement, confusion and even resentment of our home cities.

The last three years of that decade brought us a pandemic that created a whole new uncertainty/fear coupled with a hope and potential for change, a creative and uplifting change for the artful (thoughtful) people that made The Bay what is, what it should be; a prosperous community and haven for creative and forward thinkers from all walks of life.

It's really warm and exciting to see that community begin to thrive and prosper again as we rebuild our home into something new and inclusive to so many creative individuals.

There were alot of smiles and laughter that night for the first time a long time. Let's keep that wonderful energy going as we usher and enter in a whole new generation of art, culture and thinking to The Bay Area.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE AND THANK YOU!!!!!!

'Eiming was the first person to put art, drinking, and music together in a public business in San Francisco." -- Michelle Delaney / 111 Minna Gallery

Founded by Eiming Jung, 111 Minna Gallery opened its doors at 111 Minna Street in the Yerba Buena District of San Francisco in 1993. With the construction of the SF Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), Museum of the African Diaspora, (MoAD), Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and many other galleries and arts organizations, this location would go on to become the heart of San Francisco’s art district.

August 19th is Yerba Buena Day and we are proud to announce hosting the Blue Js who will be playing 111 Minna Gallery at 6pm! Their bluegrass sounds are both electrifying and evoke the deep sentimentality of a musical past steeped in beauty, pain, and heartswollen melodies. Don't miss them!
