After 3.5 years and hundreds of hours of searching for the perfect rhythm, a single tear rolls down my cheek as I present the final edition of the Life’s a Jungle series.
I had the good fortune of meeting Cameron at a BBQ when he hijacked the aux cord and put on a series of FRENCH EXPRESS tracks (RIP), and from there we began an hours-long interrogation of one another on which artists and labels and tracks the other knew about. Obviously between the two of us there was an immense breadth of knowledge and enthusiasm, and after sending two writing samples he absolutely didn’t ask for (sorry for that Cam), he agreed to have me on as a contributor to Caveman Sound.
The first edition of Life’s a Jungle was recorded in a laundry closet in Oakland on an ironing board, and from that moment on I was hooked like an Indonesian Speckled Carpetshark in the Gulf of Tomini. The goal was never to blow up, show off or be the cool guy – DJing is fun as s**t and when you see other people feeling something because of what you’ve made, it’s the only thing that really matters. Life’s a Jungle has always been the outlet I’ve loved, infinitely more than any immediate family, and I’m beyond grateful to anyone who has listened in any capacity. With that being said, it’s also wild to see how musical tastes change, and what started as a feel-good poppy compilation basically went off the deep end into darker club cuts, techno and trance.
Although this will be the final volume of Life’s a Jungle, Gary Paradise will continue to be on the scene and throw down white hot Bhut Jolokia-infused jams when given the opportunity. In a G-Star Raw store, at a Quinceanera, emergency room in Mozambique, wherever you are Gary will be ready.
For now, pack your S/S 2019 Oscar de la Renta bags, cash out your Ethereum and queue up the UberCHOPPER because I’m taking you on one final journey!
