ANNOUNING THE LOSS OF A DEAR FRIEND, Anastasia Kiriy. MANY OF YOU KNEW HER AS THE BARTENDER AT SUB MISSION. WE ARE TRYING TO HELP HER FAMILY GET HER HOME TO RUSSIA. PLEASE HELP OUT, DONATE, AND OR SHARE THIS. THE OLD STAFF AT SUB MISSION IS AT A COMPLETE LOSS FOR WORDS RIGHT NOW.

To everyone who may not yet have heard the news, Anastasia (Nastya) Kiriy has passed away. Her death came absolutely unexpectedly and is shocking and impossible to comprehend. IN CASE YOU GUYS DONT KNOW BY NOW, SUBMISSION ART SPACE IS SHUT DOWN. WE MAY OPEN A NEW SPACE, WE MAY NOT. IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE RENTS AND SUPPORT WE GET FROM THE COMMUNITY. WHEN WE WERE FORCED TO SHUT DOWN, WE HAD VERY LITTLE SUPPORT AT THE END, WHICH WAS NOT ENOUGH TO SAVE OUR SPACE. THIS MAKES US THINK, HOW MANY ARTISTS, MUSICIANS, DANCERS, ENTERTAINERS ARE LEFT IN THE CITY? WE ARE ALL BEING SLOWLY DRIVEN OUT.

WE ARE GONNA TAKE A BREAK AND LOOK FOR A NEW SPACE VERY SOON. WE HOPE WE CAN FIND ONE THATS AFFORDABLE SO WE CAN CONTINUE TO SERVE THE ARTS COMMUNITY AND YOUTH OF SAN FRANCISCO. We desperately need this passed around and shared and signed. We are in a situation right now that will determine our immediate future. Our landlord got the greedy bug.

Hey Everyone! Here is an update to what is going on with the space:
***WE STILL NEED YOUR DONATIONS DESPERATELY!!
*We finally got approved, from the city, to start construction for a required fire wall that we have been trying to do for over a year!
To purchase the permits and job card to start, it will cost us $15,000! This is not including materials or labor.
***PLEASE TELL PEOPLE TO DONATE!!!!!
*Also we had our Architect tell us, that the city told him, that we needed to have the building retro fitted a month ago ($50k to $100k), or the building would be "Red Tagged", and closed. It is the landlords responsibility, and he agreed to it. But somehow his wife thinks that we are trying to scam him, so he changed his mind and gave us a 30 day notice to move out on June 12th.
*We met with a city planner last week and he informed us that we DON'T need to get the building retro fitted, and are in compliance.
Hopefully this will change the landlords mind about evicting us, because now he doesn't have to flip the bill for it.
We are fighting as hard as we can, and are worn to the bone, but we will do what we have to do to keep the a space open to those who need it the most, You The People!!

So we just got hit with an almost $10,000 bill from the architect on Friday. When we hired him last year, he said he would only charge us $5,000. And our $13,000 rent is due in a few days.
