A little moment in the studio, sunlight, daffodils, and the soft hum of spring.
Collected pieces, lived-in textures, and the kind of simplicity that makes a space feel warm.

Back when I didn’t have enough merchandise to fill the right side of the shop…I filled it with plants. Lots of them. Maybe more outside plants than inside ones (oops). I had read in Martha Stewart that they could be “inside-outside” plants…but I’m guessing Martha also has housekeepers who manage the rotation schedule.

They all started reaching for the window and turning neon green, like they were trying to escape. And there were way too many for me to keep up with.

Thankfully, I’ve filled things out a bit since then—and majorly narrowed down the plant selection. They were starting to feel more like pity purchases than anything else.

Still playing with style since opening…and I think we’re getting closer to the soul of Scarborough Affair. I’ve always wanted the shop to feel like a little escape, and this one feels like it’s finally clicking.

The amber vase might be here to stay (chinoiserie is still around, don’t worry), but this one just feels right with what we’re pulling from the garden. Fresh, old-world, and a little wild. Basically like me on my best day.

Thanks for sticking with me while I throw things at the wall to see what blooms. Stay tuned…we’re growing stuff now!

Here’s me at 24…untangling ivy at a workshop in the mountains of Italy. We stayed in a centuries-old castle, the kind of place that feels half-dream, half-memory. Something about being there…surrounded by beauty, history, and people who made things with their hands, made me believe I could do anything.

After this trip, I went home and started Scarborough Affair in my landlady’s garage in San Francisco.

It wasn’t a castle, but the magic stuck.
