We recently installed a new commercial oven, and it's already hard at work. It heats from room temperature to 350° in just four minutes, and we recently put it to the test catering a local educator's retirement celebration.

Mr. Gumbo installed it himself with help from his sons, and let's just say, moving it into place was no small job. 💪🏾

Projects like this are a reminder that there's a lot happening behind the scenes. Every upgrade helps us build a kitchen that's ready to serve our community faster and better when we reopen on August 17.

If you've got an event coming up (office lunch, birthday, family gathering, anything worth feeding people well) we're ready to bring the gumbo to you. Place your order and we'll handle the rest.

One thing to know: catering will be paused August 3–10 while we're at Outside Lands.

You can also find us at select events around the city this summer, and Café Mélange at San Francisco City Hall is open for lunch if you need your fix in the meantime.

Big things are cooking behind the scenes. ❤️🍲

While Gumbo Social is temporarily closed, Mr. Gumbo has been hard at work upgrading the restaurant with new equipment and improvements as we prepare to reopen on August 17.

As we get ready to welcome you back, we're asking for your help with something our Bayview community has been requesting for years: dinner service.

Our goal is to pilot a new evening takeout and delivery program from 6 PM–10 PM, so you can finally enjoy Gumbo Social after work. This pilot would also make delivery available, bringing your favorite gumbo, po'boys, and more to even more people while helping create a livelier evening scene in Bayview.

Your support will help us fund the equipment, safety upgrades, and staffing needed to launch this program, including a new takeout service window, security improvements, and the operational costs of testing extended hours.

Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to making dinner at Gumbo Social a reality.
