Balboa Theatre - San Diego Balboa Theatre is downtown's award-winning and historic home of music, comedy, dance, and more! Refurbished and reopened in 2008.

Built in 1924, the Balboa Theatre was an elegant vaudeville and movie palace in downtown San Diego. Special Coverage & Design Awards won by the Balboa Theatre Restoration. Most of these were awarded in 2008-2009:

This spring, City Ballet of San Diego will bring 3 excellent works to our stage!

💙 Geoffrey Gonzalez’s playful, energetic “Rhapsody in Blue” became an instant favorite for City Ballet of San Diego audiences in 2021. It's the perfect marriage of dance and Gershwin's iconic 1924 piece.
🌘 Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s award-winning ballet Ecliptic makes its return. With large gold hoops, hypnotic music, and not-to-be-missed choreography, this is a ballet you will never forget. Awarded Best Dance in 2024 by the San Diego Union-Tribune.
🗽 The American, choreographed by Tony Award-winning New York City ballet alum Christopher Wheeldon, is a dreamy, romantic neoclassical ballet, filled with invention and greatly influenced by Dvorak’s dreamy score.
