Pilar Moreno is a Spanish-born flamenco singer and artist living in San Diego. Blessed with a powerful and evocative voice, her singing resonates the emotion and true feeling of flamenco. She has worked with some of the best performance companies, at fine entertainment venues all over the world. Her artwork has been shown at many local galleries and art expositions.

Vanessa Albalos has been performing Flamenco in Southern California for over 25 years. Colleagues and aficionados have considered her to be an inspirational figure, a fiery powerhouse performer, as well as an invaluable asset to the Flamenco community. Her years of experience in tablao and theater performances have led to the creation of her own dance academy and company, Flamenco Heart & Soul. Teaching in LA, Orange and Riverside counties with an unquenchable spirit, she drives a strict and loving discipline into her students. Her classes reflect her passion for cultivating a higher standard of artistry, skill, and respect of the art.

Artist Highlight for July’s Flamenco Intimo at Charade!
We applaud and thank our house artist guitarist Kambiz Pakan for being part of our show since the beginning!

Kambiz Pakan was born in 1971. In his childhood he listened to a relative playing the setar (traditional persian stringed instrument) which left a great impression on him and later drove him to pursue a unique sound from the guitar. In 1985 when he lived in Istanbul attended the international guitar festival. After this event he began his studies in music. He eventually moved to California and years later achieved a university degree from CSULB in ethnomusicology/flamencology with an honor. He has worked extensively as a guitarist in the USA. Years of living mainly in the cities of Granada and Jerez has given him a deep insight and perspective in the art of flamenco. Kambiz has traveled extensively in the world which also enriched his musical formation and has helped him acquire a distinct harmonic versatility and an extraordinary sensibility. He has performed on many prestigious stages in the USA, Spain, France, Portugal, Israel, India, Iran among others. He has recently moved back to southern California.
