DanzartsSD-Sabor Mexico Dance Company (SMDC) the foremost dance interpreter of Mexican culture & La Esencia Flamenca Dance Co. in greater San Diego Area, which was founded August 2005 by Artistic Director, Patricia Astorga-Casey. SMDC’s innovative repertoire fuses ballet, modern and Latin dance forms into dynamic balance of Mexican-American culture, past and present. The mission of SMTDC is to pre

serve inspirational and distinctive dance works that are rooted in Mexican heritage and seeks to further impart a cultural and educational theatrical experience for audiences broadly. La Esencia Flamenca Dance Company under artistic direction of Patricia Astorga-Casey was founded 2006. The goal of La Esencia Flamenca is to enrich cultural diversity through the unique aroma of Flamenco music and dance. We strive to raise the awareness and appeal of Flamenco to the cultural community with modern choreographies that maintain the aristocratic essence of Spain.

Our fall recital began with a soft hum of anticipation, the theater glowing with the colors and sounds of two worlds - Mexico’s vibrant corazón and España’s passionate alma. As the audience settled into their seats, the stage waited like an open book, ready to tell its stories in swirling skirts, tapping heels, and centuries -old rhythms.
