How lucky they were to have found each other.

To be married in the desert spring.

To dance under their first sunset as husband and wife.

And how lucky am I to have been asked to capture their day.

Congratulations J & D on an amazing wedding.

In case you need a distraction from all the current events, I’m tossing a beautiful wedding into your feed.

Robin and John...a day filed to the brim with laughter, sunshine, family and friends.

So much to be inspired about from this day. The closeness between Robin and her parents was palpable. John’s getting emotional during their ceremony, the stunning grounds of Santaluz.

And to top it off, the amazing team of creatives that helped create the day.

What can make me love my clients more than I already do?

One word: Doggo’s.

Meet Ruby. My new obsession. The sweetest pup with the sleepiest eyes.

She digs holes VERY well. Enjoys a seaweed snack and isn’t quite sure what to think about the sand in her toes.

Just like her parents she’s a joy to be around. Which isn’t surprising. Good people raise good pups.

Lots of dog treats, good laughs, and sand in our toes during this session. Like meeting old friends to share a sunset.

This is the recipe of a beautiful session. It’s all about connecting, which is what I look for when a new couple crosses my path. And something I encourage all couples to pay close attention to when interviewing their vendors. Connection is chemistry, which creates a great experience, and ultimately great images.

B&J, thank you for sharing a sunset (and Ruby) for the evening!

Here’s a few minutes of positive distraction this afternoon.

Installment number two of short stories is Nancy and Carlos!

This wedding was full of places and people incredibly special to Nancy and her family. These two were married in the chapel where Nancy went to school in La Jolla, then they drove Nancy’s grandparents' vintage corvette to their reception at the Catamaran, a tropical paradise and perfect for an al fresco dinner and insane dancing. With Carlos being from Argentina there were some serious dance moves. Such an amazing evening of flamenco dancing, live music and dinner under the stars.

This installation was incredible, too. I’ve never seen anything like it before and have yet to see anything like it again.

Amazing couple, amazing team of creatives!

First installment of mini stories is Jenna and Dan’s wedding. I'm curious what you think of this format. Let me know in the comments.

I’m constantly frustrated with trying to choose images based on them fitting in the insta formatting guidelines. So, we’re busting out of those confines.

But...let’s talk about Jenna and Dan for a minute. This day was a doozy and we’re starting off hot.

I can’t really explain how much I love these two. Their energy is infectious.

We literally laughed and cried all day.

When I met Jenna for the first time she told me they weren’t photogenic and were awkward in front of the camera.

Would you say this is true??

The only truth she told me was they loved to have fun and their day would be one heck of a party.

That’s putting it mildly.

Such a joy reliving this day...I hope you enjoy this mini story as much as I do.

One of the most touching displays of a moment hitting a mother. When reality sets in, it can become overwhelming. —->swipe to see this sequence and how Lilly reacts to helping her daughter into her dress.

It’s moments like this that show a lifetime of love, courage, teaching, learning and living culminating to one moment.

Andrea and Curtis are in the blog today and I hope you have a moment to take a look. Link in profile.

With perseverance and a little luck, Andrea and Curtis were able to celebrate their wedding with a small group of family and friends.

Their day was intimate and very special.

Their story is coming to the blog tomorrow and I can’t wait for you to see it.

You tell me if there’s anything cuter than a giggly little nugget of love like this one.

This is a special little girl with amazing parents. These two may look familiar...We created images together on their wedding day and now we’ve created images of them as parents.

The journey continues for these two (now three) and I’m so excited to see them raise this blue eyed, tongue wagging, giggly, beautiful little girl.

A&J, thank you for allowing me to document this next phase of your lives together. ❤️

How’s everyone holding up out there in InstaLand?

A few weeks back I actually worked! To photograph a wedding these days is quite rare. It was refreshing to be with such a small family of thoughtful people and actually get a camera in my hand again.

One of the first people I saw as I arrived was

Of course I wanted to give her a hug but you know, .

One of her first questions to me was ‘how are you doing in all this?’

Let’s break this down a little. She had flowers in her hand. Was in the middle of working, creating, and scheming ways to decorate and she thought to ask this question in the middle of all that.

You know you’re talking to good people when that’s the first thing they say to you. In case I didn’t say thank you...thank you for asking.

The way she customizes her creations to the couple and space never ceases to amaze me...We’re all working on the fly these days and it’s showing the versatility of all our talents.

Beautiful work Annette and thank you for being you!

One thing I get really excited about at weddings are heirlooms.

Watches, necklaces, bracelets, and lockets are all regular appearances. Or,maybe a Ford roadster handed down to Brandt from his grandfather.

Any token that has been handed down helps us remember and honor those in our lives that have influenced us. For me, I have a few cherished items...a guitar and camera my mother gave me that were my grandfathers. My father passed along a camera that was his fathers. Also, my wedding ring which hasn’t left my hand in 7 years.

We all have these items and I encourage all couples to include even the smallest item in their day. No matter the size, the meaning these items hold and the memories they represent can never be measured.

And...they’re always incredibly fun to photograph.
