As I was helping my grandpa plan his wedding several years ago (which occurred the day before his 80th birthday - he joked that Ginger didn’t want to marry a man in his 80s lol), he told me about his wedding to my grandma, who passed when I was a teenager. He said that most average people back then had a church ceremony followed by a punch and cake reception. Simple but lovely and memorable. Don’t get me wrong, I love artistic installations and epic views and thoughtful touches everywhere you look. But there’s something to be said for keeping things simple and I don’t believe it makes it any less special - it’s all about perspective. Because, what makes it special and unique is that it’s YOU. Forget cookie cutter, forget boring. Also forget trends, Pinterest and TikTok. It all boils down to the fact that it’s a celebration of your love, which is unique in and of itself. You are still making decisions that resonate with you, too. Your clothing, accessories, the location, the guest list, the font on the invitation, the flavor of the cake. Even simple can’t be boring to you as long as it feels like you. So if this sounds more like you than what you see opening up an app, please rest assured that it’s more than okay, and in fact, it’s wonderful.
