For artists who want to learn more about the business of being an artist and working specifically with commerical art galleries: Gallery owner Sonya Sparks is mentoring a small group of artists with .official, starting next month. Mastrius is an online community dedicated to fostering community and mentorship amongst artists of all skill levels. This program is open to artists worldwide.

In the new mentorship group, we’ll be focusing on:
▪️Your current stage on the artist path.
▪️After you know your current stage(s), we will know what milestones to work on next. For instance, if you are on the Organized stage, and we are discussing the Exhibited stage in the next session, you can see what’s ahead for you. If you are Exhibited for example, and we are working on the Connected stage, this will be your review to fill in gaps that should be completed before moving along the path further.
▪️Mindset is a big part of gallery communications. Learning what rejection and lack of response actually means.
▪️You will learn directly from a gallery owner what the thought process is behind selecting artworks.
▪️You will also learn what NOT to do when approaching galleries for representation.

This is a similar program to Sparks Gallery's Gateway to Galleries program (G2G) in that Sonya will be discussing the ways to work with galleries based on your readiness level, and it is a live monthly video call with Sonya and the Mastrius team for direct feedback during the call. Mastrius also offers many other supportive events and community in conjunction with this program. Mastrius is faciliated live learning, with homework.

G2G is hosted by Sparks Gallery, and provides monthly interviews with artists and gallery owners in a community forum, as well as tools to use to track progress and facilitate your journey with direct responses from Sonya for feedback on materials through the platform. It is more self-paced learning.
