Join us in honoring the memory of Eddie Lindros, a beloved retired teacher and expert backpacker who touched the lives of thousands of individuals. Eddie's passion for the outdoors and dedication to mentoring young adventurers led to the creation of the iconic Poway Backpackers program in 1972.
With boundless energy and enthusiasm, Eddie embarked on countless hiking trips, exploring the stunning landscapes of California's Sierra, Mammoth, and Yosemite. He instilled invaluable life lessons in his students, teaching them personal responsibility, teamwork, and perseverance.
Eddie's impact extended far beyond the trails. He was a true mentor, shaping the lives of those he encountered with his no-nonsense attitude and genuine care. Whether it was outright telling you to your face, “I think you’re full of sh*t!” or waking up students for backpacking with cold water, his actions always came from a place of love.
For decades, Eddie shared his knowledge and passion, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the countless individuals he inspired to embrace the beauty of the outdoors and cherish the power of teamwork.
We celebrate the life and legacy of Eddie Lindros, who will forever be remembered for his unwavering dedication to empowering the next generation of adventurers. May his spirit continue to guide and inspire us as we journey through life, knowing that he has left a lasting impact on the world he loved so dearly.
Rest in peace, Eddie.

This is my old man Chester, I adopted him when he was 17 yrs old. My vet gave him one, maybe 2 weeks to live. He had mouth infection, heartworm positive strong, heart murmur, etc.. Chester was a fighter though, so was I, we didn’t give up.
He underwent surgeries and treatments. He is now 22 yrs old (birthday was Oct 17) and very healthy and happy. And he always has a smile on his face. He is such a handsome, happy boy ❤️🐾

I have photographed hundreds of weddings. Each one has been unique in it's own way... This one had extra sentimental value because I had known the groom since since the beginning of his life. Getting to witness him marry the girl of his dreams, surrounded by loved ones, felt absolutely moving, surreal and magical...
I didn't do so well guessing their ages... But it also goes quite fast... 😳

This beautiful young lady is all grown up... I met her when she was just a baby when her dad brought her down to my old studio (probably during Art Walk in Little Italy). I remember wanting to take a photo of her but he said to me, "Buddy, forget about it! She won't smile for the camera!" It sounded like a challenge to me! I got this little baby to smile and even laugh on camera! I recorded it and posted it on YouTube 14 years ago so that her grandparents in Australia can see her... This year she turned 15... Wow! Time has flown by so quickly!

Contribution is the key to ultimate fulfillment!
Life is not about what you GET — that will never make you truly happy in the long term. It’s who you BECOME and what you CONTRIBUTE — to your loved ones, your community, and the world — that will. 💪❤️🌎
We GROW so that we have more to GIVE — it’s what we were MADE FOR! Nothing in life will give us a greater sense of personal satisfaction than contribution in service to something greater than ourselves. 🤝🔥💕
When you learn the power of sincere and selfless contribution, you will experience life’s deepest joy: true fulfillment. The secret to living is giving!
Do you know someone who embodies the spirit of giving and contribution? Give them a shoutout in the comments! 🗯️👇🏼

WARNING: Long post - What is BizX?
BizX is an American financial technology company that operates a digital private currency that facilitates business-to-business exchange of goods and services.
What the heck does that even mean? Okay, to me, it's a networking/barter/trading group? What? Well, it's a bunch of small businesses who are willing to do business with each other using a different form of currency called BizX dollars.
I'll be totally honest. The first time I heard from them was June of 2017. They needed a photographer to photograph their very first networking party, their OPENING party, here in San Diego. A friend of an acquaintance called me saying that they needed help. I happened to be available. They tried to explain to me how I'd get paid. I still didn't get it. (I'd get paid in BizX dollars? Say what?) But since I was available and I knew someone needed my help, I had to said yes. I figured, worse comes to worse, I was only giving 2 or 3 hours of my time to photograph the event, and another few hours to edit. Even if I got absolutely nothing from this, I knew I helped someone in need of my services.
I photographed the event, it was fun. They were nice. If you know anything about me, my ideal client is simply, NICE PEOPLE. There is no shortage of that with BizX.
I'll admit, even after the first event, I was STILL skeptical. I still didn't understand how this would be of any use to me. But I signed on about 9 days after the first event. That was on June 9th, 2017.
I kept photographing events here and there. Just mid-week stuff. Basically those hours in the week that I had nothing planned anyway. I didn't have a clear understanding of what value this would bring to me.
Six months went by, I was earning BizX dollars with no place to spend it (at least I didn't think so). Until December 12th, 2017. That was mine and Dave's 5 year anniversary. We got in my car to go to lunch and my car wouldn't start. OH NO!!! Not even a jump start was going to do the job. As it turned out, BizX had added Robert's Auto Service in Pacific Beach at this point. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they had GREAT reviews! So I brought my car to them. They fixed my car and I paid them using BizX dollars! AMAZING!!! They really took the "Monopoly money!" ha ha! THAT was the moment when it clicked. I texted Dan Kosh, and told him how incredibly happy I was that BizX saved the day!
From that moment on, I believed in the power of BizX 100%! I would never tell people about a company, a product or a service if I didn't fully believe in it. BizX is one of those things in my life. If you are a business owner, and you don't belong to BizX, why not?
If you decide to join, use my link to get $100 to use immediately! We both get $100 BizX dollars! It's a win-win!

This event was from June 13, 2018 at Absolution by the Sea. The day before my birthday. I had invited a handful of friends to this event and I jokingly kept saying that it was my birthday party that BizX was throwing for me. Well guess what? They surprised me with a birthday cake!!! It was crazy because I was in total work mode, I didn't realize that Dan was talking about me until a second after I looked at Brett Murphy, who was looking at me with a crazed look in his eyes, pointing. Then it seriously felt like slow motion. I started to realize that what was being said was about me. I stood there, stunned. Not hearing a thing! Then my friend Terri Rippee turns to me and says, "Get down there!" (I was standing on a bench trying to get crowd shots as Dan was speaking). I started to step down and she then says, "Give me your camera!" I was like, "Oh yeah! Okay!" I handed it to her and she took the photos as everyone sang Happy Birthday. I loved the reaction photo once the crowd realized Dan was talking about me too. Ha ha! I guess we were all surprised. As I stood there looking around, it honestly meant SO much to me to see the people I had invited as my guests to this party. Just a small handful of people, but it meant the world. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

What an awesome day David and I had at Belmont Park! The Easter Bunny brought 12,000 Easter eggs! Alice in Wonderland was there with her friends, The Mad Hatter, The Queen of Hearts, a miniature donkey, a Cheshire Cat... Or um, a Cheshire Goat... ;) There were pirates lurking around all the rides in the beautiful San Diego sunshine. It was just the most perfect day ever!

Paige Owen & Brady Long: A surprise Wedding Proposal in Laguna Beach
© Janis Foley Photography
There are times when I go into photographing something and I just don't know what to expect. Although I've done this so many times over the years, I STILL get nervous. I think it's because I pour my heart and soul into it when I photograph people, especially days like this. This day was extra special.
This is my boyfriend's younger cousin, Brady, proposing to his girlfriend, Paige, of 4 years. I didn't know them well, which made me nervous. I hadn't had a chance to talk to Brady to understand what he wanted. So THAT also made me nervous. I had no doubts I could handle the task at hand, but I just wanted it to be PERFECT.
I'm not gonna lie, I said a little prayer asking for guidance that day. And if you know me, you'd probably know that I tend to believe in signs. Especially angel signs. That day, the signs everywhere. I felt guided to do all the right things. Plus we ended up with this beautiful sunset that I felt was also a gift.
The whole time Dave and I were out there with Paige & Brady, we were pretending that we were having THEM help US with my portfolio. ;) Little did Paige know that right at sunset, Brady would propose to her.
I don't know if this slideshow will mean as much to a total stranger as it means to us, but man, I am overwhelmed by the beauty of experience. I feel so blessed to have been able to see it first hand. It was an absolute perfect day.
Right as he proposed, their families, who were watching from up above on the cliff, started cheering from far away. That's why she looks up as he got down on one knee. You can actually hear it in the video clip. I'll admit I don't know them well (yet), but Dave has always told me that Brady's dad (Uncle Paul) was a huge influence in Dave's life growing up. Dave has said that his Uncle Paul was one of the top 5 influential people in his life, referring to him as a man of integrity, full of heart, compassion and mischief. He sees much of that in Brady.
I never had a chance to meet Brady's dad, but I see that Brady has turned out to be such an incredible person. Dave had always said that Brady is a true gentleman. After watching them on this day, I can totally agree. It's a rare thing to see these days. As for Paige, not only is she beautiful, but she seems like she's the sweetest girl. I'm so happy for these two to have found each other and fallen in love. I wish them a lifetime of happiness...
