Hello!
My name is Jacob and I am the Owner & Creative Director at Thater Made (🗣 “thay-tur”). I'm an event + wedding planner and designer in San Diego, CA. I love a good theme, all of the detailed touches, and transforming spaces and life’s events into unforgettable experiences. A few facts about me:
1. I used to be an international flight attendant living in Dubai. After graduating from UCSD, I initially wanted to backpack around the world on my own for a year. Instead, I chose to move to the other side of the globe to make money while travelling and even managed to pay off my student loans while I was abroad. ✈️
2. I can ride a unicycle and juggle. You'd think I'd have good hand-eye coordination, but I've broken my pinkie twice catching a football. 🤹♂️
3. I was a go-go dancer throughout college. Okay, just kidding… but I did pour drinks, dance around with partiers, and assist with events at a nightclub in downtown SD while I was going to school. It was definitely a fun job during college and taught me about dealing with all sorts of different people and personalities - along with how to handle your drunk aunt trying to steal the mic during a speech. 🕺
4. I‘m advanced and wreck scuba certified. I skipped out on the fun spring break shenanigans one year and took a solo trip down to Mexico to learn to dive. As Ariel would say, it’s “a whole new world” beneath the waves that’s different from anywhere else you could ever visit, and it’s the only place I can truly unplug and relax… even when the sharks come around. 🦈
5. I had a house fire as a teenager and lost everything other than the clothes I had on. The fire brought me to San Diego and taught me that while most possessions can be replaced, memories will last a lifetime (Cheesy, but so true). This is one reason I love what I do for others and always strive to create those unforgettable experiences for everyone I work with. ✨
