Turns out hosting an event for engaged couples at one of the most beautiful venues requires approximately 4,372 emails, a suspicious amount of caffeine, and an incredible vendor team.

Worth it.

Producing The Engagement Party at MCASD was such a full-circle moment. Seeing Jacobs Hall transformed into a space where couples could meet 45 talented creatives, gather inspiration, and actually enjoy wedding planning was exactly what I had hoped for.

This design was inspired by modern coastal—a little sculptural, a little understated, and designed to let the ocean and architecture be part of the story.

To every creative who said yes, trusted the process, and helped bring this vision to life: thank you. You made this so much bigger than I could have done alone.

Looking back at some older photos and this is something I’ve noticed that’s stayed the same:

When we (clients and I) start planning, I rarely ask about colors first.
I’m usually more interested in how you want the day to feel.
What do you want your guests to experience when they walk into the room?
What do you want to remember when it’s all over?

Those answers tend to shape everything else.
The venue.
The design.
The layout.
The details.

It’s less about creating a specific look and more about creating an experience that feels like you.

That’s always the goal.

Some wedding days feel rushed from the moment they begin.
N+E’s didn’t.

There was space to react.
Space to laugh.
Space to be fully present with the people they love.

That kind of ease doesn’t happen accidentally.
Their wedding was under our Design & Event Direction package — a collaborative planning experience designed for couples who want professional structure, creative guidance, and seamless ex*****on while still remaining hands-on in select parts of the planning process.

The timeline was intentional.
The expectations were clear.
The priorities stayed centered on experience over performance.
And because of that, the day felt exactly how it was supposed to:
joyful, relaxed, emotional, and deeply personal.

Luxury isn’t just how a wedding looks.
It’s how it feels while you’re living it.

The brief was simple: clean, modern, warm white.

But the difference between a neutral wedding that feels elevated and one that falls flat has almost nothing to do with color.

It’s about atmosphere.
Warmth comes from contrast — espresso against ivory, aged brass against soft linen, sheer draping against dark wood, candlelight against sculptural minimalism. Texture, material, shadow, restraint.
A neutral wedding should still feel dimensional. Intimate. Lived in. Like a world your guests stepped into for one evening — not just “all white.”

Lately I’m pulling toward palettes that feel cinematic rather than polished. Warm earth tones. Tactile fabrics. Softened light. Architectural draping. Quiet depth.
Proof that minimal can still feel deeply emotional.

Save this if you’re designing something modern, warm, and intentionally layered.
