The coziest cabin brunch — my friend and I made ’s perfect, pillowy cinnamon rolls recently, and my goodness they were the best I’ve ever had. They were so much fun to make, and have been the best early ski morning breakfast treat for our days on the slopes. They truly make me jump out of bed at 6 am, which.. for those who know me well, is a feat in and of itself.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Throwing together this brunch was so much fun and so simple. We set the table with thrifted ceramics, glassware, and linens, and placed some blooming branches in one of my favorite vintage vessels from , turning a regular morning into a memorable one. It’s moments like this that I love so much. Simple can be so special.

How do you like to make an everyday meal memorable? I’d love to hear 😌

29. If you’re lucky, you live a lot of lives in a lifetime — and I’m the luckiest to feel this way. Here’s to celebrating life and welcoming another year when and however we can — with a weekend full of blue skies, mountain mornings, lots of flowers, lemon ricotta pancakes, snowy mezcal cocktails, and a glowy veggie filled din with one of my favorite ladies .
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There was so much birthday magic and I’m so very excited for another beautiful year full of flowers, sunset swims, barefoot cocktails, a whole lot of growth, good food, and even better people gathered around my table.

I don't think I'm capable of picking a favorite flower, but last weekend this lavender sweet pea danced its way into my number one spot.. at least for the day. Anyone else have a different favorite flower by the season, month or day?

Over the last year, we’ve missed weddings, birthdays, and countless other celebrations due to the pandemic we’re all living through, and while it has been so difficult to forgo gathering loved ones together, I’ve also learned how important it is to celebrate the everyday. To not wait — for the special occasion, for the net before you leap, for the perfect time to start the business you’ve been dreaming about, to learn something new, for the milestone to celebrate.

If you need one, this is your invitation to step into something you feel beautiful in this evening, to wear the red lipstick, to light the candles, and to slow down to make a dinner at home a little magical, just because. This year, I’ve learned to stop waiting for special occasions. Life is the occasion.

— spring
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I didn't expect
to waken again, to feel
in damp earth my body
able to respond again, remembering
after so long how to open again
in the cold light
of earliest spring--
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
afraid, yes, but among you again
crying yes risk joy

this morning,
climbing the familiar hills
in the familiar
fabric of dawn, I thought

of China
and India
and Europe, and I thought
how the sun
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
blazes
for everyone just
so joyfully
as it rises

Back in San Diego and already dreaming of and crossing every finger for the intimate little dinner parties that will be happening out on my deck this season. The last three months in the mountains was such a magical chapter, but I am so happy to be back by the ocean, my people, and to be surrounded by so many blooming branches in my neighborhood. Picking up my snips for my walk this evening 🥸✂️ Hello spring ✨🌿

I can’t wait to gather my favorites around my table for some long dinners al fresco as spring sets in — these longer days are just the best 🌿

Daffodil: /ˈdafəˌdil/ noun – a flower symbolizing rebirth & new beginnings
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Language of Flowers is one of my favorite books. I first read it years ago as I was graduating from high school - unsure of what to study, which passions to pursue, and what my life might look like in the coming year. It was this book that introduced me to the Victorian Dictionary of Flowers, an almost impossibly intricate list of flowers and herbs and their meanings, and I fell in love with the language.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I've carried these lessons with me through many chapters in my life, both when I'm designing and otherwise, and always find myself searching the nooks of used bookstores for unique copies of these floral dictionaries. The copies that have found me are some of my favorite possessions, and I love that when I pick one up, it brings me right back to where I was in my life when I found it — A season of growth living on the coast of Maine, a challenging and wonderful year in Cambridge, a chapter exploring in Copenhagen...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These little treasures seem to find me when I need them most, and I can't wait to stumble on my next copy.
