I’m still blown away that ( Poncho Sanchez ) Poncho Sanchez—one of the biggest musical influences in my life—came down to celebrate my birthday and sit in with us.

Poncho’s music has been with me for so much of my journey. It helped shape the way I hear music, the way I play, and the kind of musician and band leader. I’ve always wanted to be. To now call someone I’ve looked up to for so many years a mentor, teacher, and friend is something I don’t take lightly.

Poncho, thank you for showing up for me. Your friendship, guidance, and support mean more to me than I can put into words. I’ll never take it for granted.
