Chuck Russell, director of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, believes Jim Carrey would be an excellent choice to play Freddy Krueger in a future reboot. Russell praised Carrey's unique physical acting and darker performances, saying he has the range to reinvent the iconic dream killer provided the franchise takes a bold new creative direction. However, there is NO official Nightmare on Elm Street reboot in development featuring Carrey. The idea is simply Russell's personal vision and has not been announced by New Line Cinema or Warner Bros.
