My mother used to tell me how beautiful she thought garden weddings were. To her, there was something doubly lovely about being married at home, surrounded by flowers and greenery, in a place that already felt familiar and safe.
I find myself thinking about that when I look at these gowns. Ballgown silhouettes become lighter in transparent fabrics—billowing sleeves, illusion bodices, floating skirts and delicate details that seem particularly at home in a secluded garden. There is grandeur here, but it is a quieter kind of grandeur: a beautiful dress, morning light, an old doorway and a garden just beyond.
