Flower Fact Friday!✅ Boutonniere...who should be wearing one at your wedding and how in the world do you pin them on?! Traditionally, the groom, groomsmen, fathers, grandfathers, step fathers, readers, ushers, and ring bearer typically wear them. But honestly, whoever you want to wear one should! The groom’s boutonniere should stand out a little more from everyone else’s, usually using flowers that match the brides bouquet.
Now, as for pinning them on, that’s the tricky part as most people think but it’s actually not too bad! To pin on a boutonniere you 1) place the boutonniere on the left lapel of the jacket, about 4 inches from the top of the shoulder. 2) Hold the boutonniere in place with your left hand while you flip the lapel back and use your right hand to push the pin downward through the fabric on the back of the lapel and into the stems of flowers on the boutonniere, 3) then use your left hand to help push the pin back through to the back side of the lapel so the pin is not visible from the front but that you can see both the top and bottom of the pin on the back side of the lapel. One pin should do the trick!
*Pro tip! If you really don’t like the idea of having pin on boutonnieres, there are magnetic boutonniere holders now that you should be sure to ask your florist about!
