I guess I underestimated the popularity of K-pop music among students at Mission Park. Their reaction reminds me of when Justin Bieber released “Baby” in 2010. Kids would scream so loud when I played it, you’d think Justin was stepping out of the back of my van to sing it live in-person 😄 🕺🏼 🎤

Huge turnout for Family Picnic Day at Mission Park School! Their theme this year is “Saddle Up for Success,” so we tried something new—Cowboy Stick Horse Races, which was a little chaotic. So we went back to Speed Racer Tricycle Races afterward.

Fun Fact: MC Sean came up with the idea of Speed Racer Tricycle Races in 2018 while we were brainstorming ideas for interactive games. I’ll bet he’s happy that kids and families are still enjoying it!

We brought some of the fun stuff we do at Salinas-area schools to YMCA Camp Sequoia Lake. Tuesday night was karaoke night, and then on Wednesday, a Family Dance hosted by DJ Frank, featuring song trivia and hula hoop contests—Great memories these kids will carry with them into adulthood!

Kind of a late post, but on this eve of , I want to share this short glimpse of MC Sean being the life of the party everywhere he went. Obviously Sean was no professional singer, but music meant a lot to him, and honestly, it’s really hard to not sing along to the Ray Charles version of America The Beautiful - https://youtu.be/9ZYH8v42a2w?si=teLucKiQIJv10ugB

Kids, ever wonder what happens when you leave your parents in the room by themselves with the DJ?

Actually there was still one teenager in the room (my daughter Michelle), who took this video unbeknownst to anyone… until I caught her.

Introducing… MC HAYDEN HENRY! My last event of the school year, and I could not have done it without him! We did song trivia, hula hoop contests, and a limbo contest for this great group of 8th graders promoting from Santa Catalina School. Their parents took over the dance floor as the night went on. It was definitely a party for all ages!

First stop today was Mission Park’s 6th Grade Promotion to set up audio and hang out for the first ceremony, then off to Spreckels School for their 5th Grade Promotion Party where our hula hoop contests were a big hit. No photos of me since I’m kind of a one-man show again. But I do appreciate the help from some great parent volunteers who made sure these kids walk away with great memories of their last day of school.

— Had I pursued a career in radio and met MC Sean earlier in life, we probably could’ve pulled off doing a morning show. He was a natural! Just so comfortable on the mic.

Back in 2020, we did it for one day only to celebrate 6th graders promoting from Mission Park School. No in-person ceremonies were allowed due to the pandemic, so we came up with this idea to broadcast it on the radio as 6th graders drove up to receive their certificates from Principal Jennifer Zanzot.

In this video, keep your eyes on the left side of the screen, because we ALMOST caught her on camera dancing to her favorite song at the time, Old Town Road!

Beautiful day at Toro Park School. Happy to be back here for their annual Dance Festival, which never sounded better too. After a successful test run at last week’s Jog-a-Thon, I was able to wirelessly connect my DJ equipment to a second set of loudspeakers behind the dancers to cover the entire area in sound, which means I can finally accommodate larger audiences at larger venues.

Our annual Jog-a-Thon/Foam Run at Mission Park School! Lots of caring parents and teachers pulled together to make this such a fun day for students that I’m sure they will remember for the rest of their lives.

— MC Sean loved turning my DJ equipment into his personal karaoke machine, especially with the old school 80s and 90s jams. Here he is on the back field of Mission Park School doing his best Biz Markie impression. The Jog-a-Thon will never be the same without him!
