We are wrapping up this season and would like to say thank you to all of our clients. The past couple of years have not been without their trials and tribulations, but it is a blessing to have such a supportive community and friends behind us!

Veterans Day is a time when, above all other days, we are able to celebrate and thank the men and women who have served our country.

We are lucky to continue to have brave young men and women willing to fight for the values and beliefs that many of us hold dear.

As a Marine veteran, I know how difficult and awkward this day can be for many of us. For those feeling this way, please remember you have brothers and sisters all over the country. If you need something, all you have to do is call.

Don’t use this day as an excuse to dive into the feelings we fight with often, use it as an excuse to connect and feel proud of what you’ve done and are continuing to do.

Remember, you are a bad m*thrf*cker and nobody can take that away from you.

Registration is now open for the Take a Kid Pheasant Hunting program!

This year’s guided Take a Kid Hunting Pheasant Hunt will take place on Saturday, November 2. Properly licensed youth hunters will have the opportunity to pheasant hunt using trained bird dogs under the guidance of volunteer mentors. Guided youth hunts are offered at 8 WMAs throughout the state.

All guided morning hunt participants must register online. When registration reaches capacity for each WMA, it will no longer appear on the online registration form. Registration closes October 15. Late registrations will not be accepted.

Priority will be given to first time participants, and we encourage youth who have never had the opportunity to upland hunt to take advantage of this program! Walk-in participants WILL NOT be accepted, so please register as soon as possible to guarantee your spot.

Youth hunters who do not register for the guided morning hunt can still participate November 2 and November 4 - 8 on any of the 10 WMAs stocked for the Take a Kid Pheasant Hunting program. Youth hunters must be properly licensed and accompanied by a properly licensed mentor.

ICYMI: Today is National Blueberry Day! We’ll have free blueberries at 3 Jersey Shore locations starting at 11:30 am!

The Department will highlight National Blueberry Day on Monday, July 8, with special visits to the shore towns of Wildwood, Atlantic City and Seaside Heights where NJDA marketing staff will be on hand to distribute free Jersey Fresh blueberries to beachgoers. It is great to see New Jersey Fish & Wildlife supporting women like this in an environment that is safe and comfortable!

NJDEP Fish & Wildlife is hosting a one-day workshop for women age 18 and older who are interested in learning about hunting, fishing and connecting with nature on March 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Conference Center in Plainsboro. Workshop sessions include Gardening for Pollinators, Turkey Hunting, Wildlife of NJ and more! The cost is $25 (plus fees) with lunch included. The first year we were able to host the Gallant Heart New Jersey Wounded Veteran Pheasant Hunt was new, exciting, and a little bit emotional. Can’t wait for the next one!
